Run-down Din Daeng flats will not be demolished

Dilapidated Din Daeng flats will not be demolished but 56 rooms will be repaired.

Caretaker Interior Minister Kongsak Wantana (คงศักดิ์ วันทนา) said the National Housing Authority is responsible for the repair and also will look for land to build new buildings.

ACM Kongsak said the rooms can last for no more than 10 years after repair so relocation plans are needed to be prepared.

He said the National Disaster Prevention Committee will further inspect if the flats are in danger of collapsing. If that is the case, those buildings will have to be demolished, ACM Kongsak said.

They all need to be demolished. Review the renters too. Some are just illegal franchises while others don't qualify for this source of housing any longer. New units could easily replace the old. Some new technology and increased space utilization too. Crime prevention and security messures should be installed. Will NHA do it though? Their hands are tied too! :o

My mother in law lives there so hope they don't knock them down, or she'll have to live with us!!!!
