Any recommendations for a cheaper pharmacy, planning to buy a few boxes of Voltarin (100mg) and other things to take back home. I usually find it for 780.B/box at the pharmacy next to soi 15 on Sukhumvit, forget the name.

Was going to try the Chinese one around the corner from Sukhumvit at Onnut soi 77. They actually tend to be the cheapest but don't usually go there.

Thanks

Why don't you go there? If you're going to ignore our recommendations, why would we take the time to do your legwork for you? Southeast China pharmacy is the cheapest pharmacy that I've ever found.

There's a Chinese pharmacy on Suk Road past Soi 4 before reaching the Marriott and Soi 2, just before Bully's Pub.

They often have better prices, slightly, tha the place on Suk Rd near Soi 15, although it depends on the specific item. Often the Suk Soi 2 area place is slightly better, sometimes the Suk 15 place is.

Though I've recently been checking with the King Mongkut medical supply and pharmacy place on Ratchathewi Rd., just across from Rajavithi Hospital. And they also should be competitive.

PS - I've never been to the OnNut place mentioned above, so can't compare with that location.

Thanks. Onnut 77 closes early and is a pain to get to, soi 15 SE Asia is open to 10pm and on my route, but after years of generally good service I recently asked for Dramamine - the yellow strip of 10 - which used to be 10baht, one girl says in Thai, 10 baht, and the other girl hands it to me and says in English, 20baht. So yes it does seem some items have a variable price, didn't used to be like that.

Well first of all, don't get brand names like Voltaren. Get generic equivalents.

Some Inexpensive pharmacies in Bangkok

1. pharmacy on Sukhumvit 71, Klong Tan, at the intersection with Petchabury/Pattanahkhan Rd's, even soi side..the very last storefront before the intersection. Closed on Sunday

2. Rung Rote Pharmacy, On Nut, right side coming form Sukhumit, about 50 meters down.

3. Wholesale pharmacy on Pradiprat Road, just a short distance from Huay Kwang BTS, and on the Pradiprat portion opposite of Big C. Walking from the main intersection, the pharmacy is located about 60 meters on the left.

Voltaren is Diclofenac.....There are Thai made verions that are very cheap....About 2 to 3 b for 50mg tablets and they work as well.

Anyone ever read the package and see how your pills are supposed to be stored ?

I am sure its not 35-40C in an open shop like the photo of "Chinese pharmacy on Suk Road past Soi 4"

at least the place at Soi 15 is Air Conditioned....

That's interesting... I'd never really thought about the air con issue before...

How about air con re the three places you've listed here above?

The cheapest pharmacy I've found in Bangkok is across from Siriraj Hospital. They have 40 to 50 staff on site & they are always busy. Best of all, you can fax your order in & have it mailed to you. Attached is their card.

South East Pharmacy in sukhumvit next to soi 15 and Rung Rote Pharmacy in sukhumvit soi On Nut are 30-35% cheaper than most other pharmacies.

Opposite of Rung Rote is a small a/c pharmacy (closes 9pm, it is not the 24 hours pharmacy some houses further down the street ). Surprisingly, they are sometimes 10-20% cheaper than Rungrote. Their stock is limited, but they do carry some not so common drugs a small pharmacy usually doesn't have.
