No news to be found that the Mazda 6 will be built/assembled in Thailand.

Built in China e.g.

But seems like parts for the Mazda 6 are actually built here and exported to other Mazda sites.

Indeed.

And a 4 cylinder more expensive than the Mazda 3 would have a hard competition here,

If Mazda could get the 6 to Thailand at a reasonable price level it would have similar competition from the Accord / Camry / Teanna as the Mazda 3 does with the Civic, Corolla, Sylphy.

BTW these are all 4 cylinders in LOS.

I think that currently Mazda would not compete well in Thailand with the Camry or Accord, so it's unlikely to be sold here.

Thai people seem to view Honda and Toyota as the best of the Japanese cars and traditionally these brands have had strong sales and lower then average depreciation.

Mazda has made a lot of progress recently, but I don't feel they are ready to break into the luxury end of the market here just yet.

However, if the new Mazda 2 and new Mazda 3 get the success that they deserve then things could change. I think the New Mazda 2/3 are top of their class in terms of design.

If it's assembled in Malaysia like the CX5 is they could bring it on the Thai market at a very competitive price.

Would be an attractive car certainly if they have a diesel version like the CX5.

Unfortunately I think 'no'.

Nor the Ford Mondeo - the best mid-sized saloon. It should compete easily with the Camry and Accord, but it will never happen.

My wife has the new top model of Teana with a 2.5 litre 4-cyl. motor, and this motor is actually much better than the previous 6-cyl. motor; better torque and fuel economy plus it runs on E20. Personally I see no need for the Mazda 6, and Mazdas ten to be rather noise (the new Mazda 3 is terrible noise and uncomfortable).

Only reading the reviews last week but on the Estates models, the Mazda 6 came out well ahead of the Honda Accord and the Mondeo..

That's what I was thinking. Just tired of the limited choices, i.e., Accord/Camry. Perhaps the Hyundai Sonata or Equus may be other options....although I don't think the latter is in Thailand either.

YESSSSS ! Want one. Looks like a Mighty Big Brother to the Mazda MX6 I had 20+ years ago....LOVED IT !

MCDs Mazda MX6 Delivery Day 1992 001.jpg

I had two MX6's in the 90s. Best cars I ever had. Huge trunk, abundant back seat legroom, comfortable seating, dead reliable, easily put 200,000 miles on them with zero repairs. Before that I had a GLC and 323, and a Mazda pickup, with which I was thrilled. Mazda is the best. I love Mazda so much I want to kiss Mazda and get married to Mazda and boom boom Mazda and have ten babies with Mazda. My next car will be an MPV

on some kind of temples you have many which like and loves each other every minute 55555

I had a Mazda 626 for 11 years from new. Never a problem to be found. Lovely car. When I sold it, it was still running as smooth as the day I bought it. I swapped it for a new Ford Focus because I got a good deal and I needed to move to a diesel car. What a piece of crap.

When I moved to Abu Dhabi I bought a 6 month old Mazda 6. Rinse and Repeat same story. Never encountered one problem in the 10 years I had it.

That's a rather outdated and ethnocentric point of view. Japanese cars are some of the best built in the world, and they compete in all categories, including luxury. A Lexus (basically a luxury version of the Camry) consistently ranks near the top year after year in the USA in terms of quality, reliability, technology, performance....you name it. I've driven most of the top European cars and frankly, they're nothing special compared to the top Japanese cars. And the Euro cars, especially in Thailand, are way overpriced in most cases.

Than u test a wrong car. I bought my wife a new Mazda 3 and it's very smooth, sporty and powerful (165 hp) for a 2 liter.

But of corse a 6 cylinder would be much better. 6 cylinder engines are much smoother to drive, they smooth as silk (i still have a 3 liter 1999 Cefiro. There is no way to comprare with 4 potters).

BTW the Mazda 3 uses about 7 liter for 100km, which is very saving, but much more power than a Camry.

Have to say: its a sporty car, not for families

Overpriced? It's the import tax! Not the sellers price. Japanese cars are very good, but drive like a computer sometimes, specially the Vios (you don't feel the touch of the road) design is mostly boring. Therefore in Europe, you don't see so many Japanese cars on the road.

The new Mazda 3 have a different shape (more Italian style) they look is similar with the small Maseratti Quatroporte.

Nice car. By overpriced, I mean relative to comparable Japanese cars. I honestly don't check prices that diligently, but a few years back I was reading some hi so magazine featuring the VW Golf. The price was listed at around 2.5 mil. For a VW Golf? Mercedes and BMWs I'd imagine are pretty outrageous as well. I don't mind paying good money for a good car, but there has to be some value. Even Japanese cars in Thailand are much more expensive than the same car in the US. But at least it's not mind-blowing.

Sadly, it wouldn't make a lick of difference here if it ain't got T or H as the first letter, the makers of the most boring mass produced cars on the planet.

I keep asking this question to every Mazda salesperson I see. Always same answer of course " It wont come." I have sent many emails and FB messages to MAzda aswell. No answer either.

It is available in Malaysia, so importing cars from Malaysia has some tax advantages for Thai Importers i.e. CX-5 has very competitive price in its segment. However CR-V is doing just super fine there and Toyota Fortuner, similar prices and bigger. Lover of Thais.

I just look forward to seeing MAzda 6 here soon.

The new Mondeo has been screwed up by Ford US unfortunately.
