Skype

Featured Replies

I would like to know if would it be possible to set Skype to start and to close at given hours. Task Scheduler does not do it.Thank you.

Guess you have the problem that Skype does not close as expected?

Skype behaves somewhat strange to a close command (in the system menu, "red X" e.g.).

It indeed only "minimizes" and the process is still running.

Found this:

https://www.safaribooksonline.com/library/view/skype-hacks/0596101899/ch03s18.html

There is a command switch (/shutdown) to shutdown Skype, as you would do with the context menu in the task bar.

I tested it manually from the cmd prompt and it worked.

Start Skype (autologon enabled once manually):

"C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"

Shutdown Skype:

"C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /shutdown

I can repeat that and see Skype come and go (process vanished).

So simply create two daily tasks with these commands.

Of course you might have to adapt the path from my example or use environment variable.

You can right-click on the Skype Icon and choose exit or quit. Exit minimizes it and quit shuts it down. My Skype is set to start at startup so it's always running if I want to use it.
