What is wrong with Thai Airways ?

Featured Replies

I don't find Thai to be a good or a bad airline - IMO they simply offer a no frills service (Business Class).

I do find that on my preferred routes to the UK (Birmingham or Manchester) that there is no incentive to fly Thai - each time I fly (biannually) the price on Thai Airways is considerably more than Emirates or Etihad who also offer a better service and better seating.

Unless I fly into Heathrow which requires a long drive to my UK home I need a layover... the Middle Eastern airlines offer the ideal solution.

I suspect the Middle Eastern Airlines (Emirates, Etihad, Qatar, Oman Air) present a better alternative to many and those who've become used to these Middle Eastern Carriers recognise the higher standards of service and seating.

However there are those of us who visit the SE of the UK so prefer a direct flight. I used to fly Thai and enjoyed it but for Business class they are now 25% more than BA and 12% more than EVA, that equals quite a few baht for a 2 abreast business class seat with mediocre service. They used to be good but the quality of service is dropping and prices increasing.

A380 is into LHR from 1st July so that must be an improvement. I only get to fly business when i get an free upgrade or redeeming mileage.

If you live on the US East coast then TG is no longer a viable alternative

Once they decided to stop in Inchon ( I assume to cater to the Business crowd) you were forced to get a hotel in LA or SF both ways, since the stop in Inchon screws up the US out bound and US inbound departure and arrival times

You think a Thai airline would be more considerate towards American citizens, wouldn't you?

Only if they wanted to retain their customers, which perhaps is THAI's problem, they simply take their passengers for granted, as though there weren't a wide-range of alternatives which are so often better-priced/timed/service. wink.png

The customers' nationality is irrelevant, but ignoring their convenience & onward-connection needs, that's just plain stupid ! facepalm.gif

So they are '19th' unfortunately they are still overstaffed, inefficient , arrogant, relatively unsafe and losing money hand over fist.

I always fly Thai and have no complaints with any of the above. Certainly not overstaffed by cabin crew.

I like the leg room in cattle class- excellent.

BA had the most arrogant cabin staff I ever experienced flying and Air NZ had the worst cabin crew of any airline I have used.
