I'm really tired of paying TRUE VISIONS nearly B2000/Mo. for content (Gold) in which I have little interest.

"Swamp People" anyone?..."Dance Mom's"???.........

Unfortunately, reading others experiences here on TV, it seems my options where I live in Bangkok are limited and problematic.

I have downloaded torrents and that helps but I'd like the flexibility of a menu driven selection of a variety of channels on demand.

I have True Online, 10MB ADSL entering on a very dirty TOT landline. (Lots of static when I pick up the receiver) My building is old and so is the wiring. My internet is often very slow.

Would buying and installing a Minix or other model TV box be practical under these conditions or would I be throwing money away. Word is that TRUE uses various means to make it difficult to use these devices. However, I was told Minix had a VPN built in and could load content in advance on it's built in hd so it could be watched later w/o constant buffering. That sounds OK to me if it will work under the conditions I have.

My questions not restricted to Minix. Any comments on other TV devices are also welcome as it is a very confusing playing field out there.

I understand this has been discussed at length in other threads and I have read them all but there is often conflicting and sometimes incomplete and inaccurate information. I'm hoping that with this thread, simpler and clearer answers will emerge.

I don't think the minix has a built in VPN and from my own experience using a minix before I got my new VDSL line it worked ok on true 10 mbs also with a scratchy tot line. I didn't bother streaming HD quality I stuck with SD streams and at times I dud have some buffering but it was generally livable. if you use Kodi to stream TV shows then over time you'll find that some stream providers are better than others and then just automatically go to them when you want to stream a show.

I cancelled my True visions. Now I just use Kodi ( the genisis addon is my favorite) and I have set up over 100 TV shows as favorites. You can stream any episode from any season and new episodes are available to stream within a few hours of them airing in the states or the uk. Kodi also has live sports but I don't find the streams that reliable so I must watch the things like F1 on ilikehd on a pay as you go basis.

I have a minix , an Amazon Fire TV, and an Intel NUC HTPC all run Kodi and all work great.

Minix doesn't have VPN but you can add it. I don't find a need for one generally as Kodi, iLikeHD, Thai Expat TV all run OK without. Before you buy a Minix why not try out a package on your PC, Android or whatever you access the Internet on to get to this forum? There are free apps like Kodi to run on any platform to see if it works for you before buying an Android TV box like a Minix?
