Buying books from Amazon

Featured Replies

try it....Amazon gives you the total including Thai customs duty on checkout.

You order Amazon and Amazon takes care on the customs clearing. If the costs are less than Amazon estimate they even refund it.

So instead of a risk of unexpected costs you have the "risk" of unexpected refunds.

I prefer hard copies. I'm learning programming from them.

New books are cheaper at thebookdepository.com. I believe amazon owns that site anyway, though they don't link accounts between it and amazon.

How does that make a difference?

For some reason it's easier for me to learn code from a normal book than tablet.

Why wouldn't your grandkids be able to read your ebooks? Admittedly an ereader would have a limited lifespan, but just buy a new one and transfer the data over, or put all your ebooks on a USB stick.

some ebooks are only licenced to the buyer.

I used to think I needed real books. Ebooks just aren't the same...

Install kindle app on a mobile with a screen size of iPhone or bigger and it's very readable.

You can carry your whole library in your pocket and read it at any time or place.

You can read it in the dark. Set the paper colour black with white ink works great.

You can buy and read books almost instantly.

OK I can't share my ebooks. But I can't easily share the books I have boxed in my dad's loft back in the UK! :0)

Who buys 'em? I've downloaded over 1000 for free.
