August 3, 201510 yr Hello. I know this has been discussed ad naseum on this forum many times but I’ve read so many of the messages and there seems to be conflicting info as to what papers or docs i need to have with me for a visa trip to vientiane or savannakhet. i am currently in Hong Kong. i am planning a trip to Koh Samui in a week or two and plan to stay about 6 months. i would get a double entry visa at vientiane and then that would give me 2 sets of 60 days plus 30 days extensions. that’s the plan anyway. but what docs do i need to present to the consulate in vientiane or savannakhet? i know should bring copies of my passport. and i am going to book flights from HK to vientiane or savannakhet and then vientiane to Koh Samui. what else do i need to bring with me? bank statements? rental contract or proof of somewhere to stay once in thailand? cash? proof of a job or income in another country? any need for a throwaway exit flight out of thailand within any period? any need for any other airline tickets or any other docs? also, is it drop off in morning of first day, pick up in afternoon of second day? so if i arrived on a wednesday night i could pre-book my ticket out of laos on the following saturday morning? thanks for your help in advance!
August 3, 201510 yr All you need is your passport and a copy of the photo page and Lao entry stamp. Plus a completed application form with 2 photos attached. Print application form 2 sided.

August 4, 201510 yr All you need is your passport and a copy of the photo page and Lao entry stamp. Plus a completed application form with 2 photos attached. Print application form 2 sided. Just for information. I understand that Savannakhet still requires a copy of the photo page, but a copy of the Lao entry stamp is no longer necessary. This is convenient because the copy can easily be done in advance. I do not know if Vientiane is the same.
August 4, 201510 yr Author Thanks. Do any of you know how long it takes? If I schedule a flight in on Wednesday night and another to leave on Friday night, would that be sufficient time?
August 4, 201510 yr Author Making multiple posts about the same topic will not speed response. I wasn't aware i had made more than one post. i posted once and the page just hung there but never seemed to submit so i typed it all up again and submitted again. did you see it elsewhere? I even looked under "items i've started" and didn't see it there.

August 5, 201510 yr Author Getting the visa is the same but the form is different. Thanks. Do you know how long it takes? If I schedule a flight in on Wednesday night and another to leave on Friday night, would that be sufficient time?
August 5, 201510 yr You would have plenty of time. You apply the morning of one day and pick up your passport the next afternoon.
