Not the best start to the season. Connor Whickham a big miss. Full credit to Leicester...they were the better team & fully deserved the win. UNimpressive performances by new boys Kaboul & Matthews....IMHO the jury's still out with Lens...lets hope for better as the season progresses.

Having said all that it was still more entertaining than MU v Spurs....just my opinion of course

Hi

Have £500 on Sunderland to be relegated this season

I am quietly confident ?

Yes, we need to be better than last nights performance....defence was non-existent

Who is your team?

Without exaggeration that was an awful performance against Leicester City ... yes,

Leicester City. Dire. Absolutely dire.

Sunderland will be relegated this season after failing to deal with the consequences of having an aging overpaid and gutless squad of players.

Sunderland need to sign at least 5 quality players to stay up. It won't happen and we will sign dross like Kaboul, Coates and Matthew who nobody wants anyway. If you shop in the bargain bins, you end up with what was on show yesterday.

Sunderland looked short of fitness and confidence pre-season and yesterday confirmed that. No surprises there.

If I were Dick Advocaat, I would give it until the 1st of September. If the club has not been shaken into investing in some quality signings, then I would be off before the embarrassment truly settles in.

Get your money on Sunderland to go down this season. It's happening.

sunderland look really badly equipped for the season and don't seem to have addressed any of their weak spots from last season. they also look really lacking in any creativity or pace at all, so while defoe is a decent finisher, it's hard to see where their goals are going to come from. could be a long season and advocaat isn't really known for radical creative ideas.

I agree with just about everything you say except it's not going to be a long season ...its going to be the same length as everyone else's season...and Fletcher is a good finisher

It isn't a big surprise to see Sunderland struggling. It is what you grow up knowing as the Sunderland way. Which other team regularly gets 40,000+ crowds and yet performs so miserably season after season? It's like a disease.

I disagree about Fletcher. He's complete and utter rubbish. A tramp in appearance and a gutless footballer. He and others do not deserve to be paid even a fraction of what they are on. He is barely good enough for the Championship. A Premier League player should be able to control the ball and pass to someone in the same team at least 70% of the time.

I have seen some awful Sunderland performances over the last 40 years, but Saturday was one of the worst when you consider what those players are earning. Honestly, watch the game again and it was like watching a pub team playing a Championship side. Leicester aren't even that talented but we made them look really good. Disgraceful.

Just to top things off, new loan signing Yann M'Vila made his first appearance in a Sunderland shirt yesterday and was sent off for headbutting an opponent.

Sunderland's recruitment over the past 5 years has been absolutely horrendous. Very little changed in the summer. The club rightly deserve to be among the favourites for relegation.

You really need a Prada shop and direct flights to the Caribbean or you'll never make the top four sadly. ;)

I must be the only one that thinks they have enough experience and finishers to stay up and a decent coach to boot....first game in give them time.

If it comes down to the usual end of season dogfight they know the script.

Yep

But you can't be lucky all the time

I reckon there will only be one spot left for Sunderland to fight away from. Norwich and Villa are my early calls for the drop (far too early of course). Watford and Bournemouth are unknown quantities but history promo/relegation stats suggest that at least one of them will be in the mix too.

OK 2-0 down to Norwich....

It's so unpredictable at the moment.....last week we got possed by Leicester...who are currently beating WHU by 2-0....who beat Arsenal by 3-0 last week...you can't play it on your fiddle...
