UPDATE

Unless something has worked temporarily and it is going to try and sneak back up on me later. Must. Get. Drunk.

Yes, that's as good advice as any. I've been there, it sucks. It's also completely harmless, but a good chili burn can actually last for a couple days. (Like Habanero, etc.)

For more typical chillies it'll likely clear up in day, household treatments or not.

For next time - Lime Juice - the solution offered me by the Laap vendor who didn't skimp on the Chilli - I liked it hot but this was his solution when he had overdone it - makes sense capsicum in Chilli is alkaline and Lime acid so neutralises.

Put the toilet roll in the fridge might help.

and there's only one toothbrush in your entire bathroom .... gigglem.gif

Now I know why people say one should never share a toothbrush..........

For me a wire brush and Dettol work much better.

Rubber gloves shalt be thy salvation....

With which end of toothbrush?

I think the end he doesn't plan on using again to brush his teeth.

Have read that the offending oils are best negated by other oils or fats. So, when mouth burning up, don't go for the cold water, but rather the icy cold milk. The butterfat in the milk sops up the capsicum oils and the heat is gone.

Perhaps you could try icy cold olive oil and soak the fingertips. May work. Rubber gloves in the future for you, my dear.

Do you need extra-virgin to put your fingers in?

Actually I thought of using fresh cooking oil which I expect would do just as well, and since it is an oil based issue should work.

Obviously gloves from hence on.

Uhm.. how was the meal then?

Honestly? I couldn't eat. No appetite at all, but I'm told it was good.

Be the change that you wish to see in the world.

Burning finger tips. That's nothing. When I was living in North Queensland a self sown chili bush on my place produced the hottest chill's I've ever know. I used to get a tingle in the finger tips just chopping them.

Absent mindedly I headed for the dunny (hong nam) after chopping a few. A world record followed as I stripped for the shower and the scrubbing brush didn't even hurt. Nothing could compete.

Recounting my plight put me in mind of Lao-Tzu.

Lao-Tzu was a great philosopher and poet in ancient China.

He is credited with many profound quotes and this one might be his best.

The Great Lao-Tzu said:

"It is only when you see a mosquito landing on your testicles that

you realize there is always a way to solve problems without using violence.”

You apply with your own toothbrush or a housemates? What's next, mouthwash enimas and crack flossing with shoe laces? Seriously though, Pepto Bismol or similar will cool your flaming balloon knot.

I take it you use your wife toothbrush for this application or do you use your friends when visiting them?

Of course, the ultimate cure is, stop being such a pussy.

Regards.

Don't know if it will help with fingertips, but I heard yogurt helps if one eats something too hot.
