September 25, 201510 yr Every time I get my (now 1 year old) units cleaned they "top-up" the refridgerant at 500 Bt extra. Why is this always necessary when my car a/c and refridgerator never seem to need topping up ? Just puzzled ! Because likely they make a bit more money that way! They shouldn't need it unless there is a leak. And if there was a leak, there is a good chance you would lose all of it and the units not cool at all.
September 25, 201510 yr I wonder if there is a thread on the Daikin AC Maintenance Forum about how to get a visa for Thailand.

If you 1 year old unit (or 5 year old unit, etc) needs a freon top-up then you have a leak or they are just scamming you. Unless you been experiencing cooling problems between cleaning which was confirmed as a low freon problem, they are just scamming you. I expect they are just scamming you....and even if you do see them put some pressure gauges on the low and high pressure connectors, I expect they are just making the presssure measurement and not adding even a drop of freon...all part of their magic (scam) act.
