More bad news, but, are you suprised....?

Kewell issues Reds warning

By James Pearson -Sky- Created on 26 Oct 2006

Liverpool's Harry Kewell says he will be out of action for at least another four months after undergoing foot and groin surgery in Australia.

Kewell was injured while playing for Australia in last summer's World Cup in Germany and is yet to play for Rafa Benitez's charges this season.

The 28-year-old underwent surgery last Friday and despite everyone being pleased with the operations, it is going to be sometime before he dons a Reds shirt again.

The former Leeds winger is set to meet up with his surgeons this week, and if he is given the thumbs up he will return to England to continue his rehabilitation.

"It's going to be a while, we're looking past February," explained the Australian international.

"I'm just itching to get back into playing. My foot is a bit sore at the moment and my groin is a bit sore at the moment.

"I just had (surgery) on Friday and the surgeons are very happy. I meet up with them again on Friday and if they give me the all-clear I'm back off to England.

"It's been a long hard thing for me, seven weeks so far, and I'm really looking forward to going home and seeing my family."

"We haven't made the start to the season we hoped we'd make, but we're more than capable of going on a run of 10 games or more without defeat and that would put us right in the mix along with the title contenders. Both United and Chelsea have difficult games coming up but we have to sort out our own form and get ourselves in a position to take advantage of any slips that anyone else makes. And they will slip up. People have said the league's over for us, but we've been to Old Trafford and we've been to Stamford Bridge and we've still got them to come to us. Nothing's over yet. Sunday's result at Old Trafford wasn't what we wanted, but we're in October, and with the talent we have in the dressing room, we can't be counted out of anything."

Yeh, right... :o

To top it all off, the talk of the North West is that his GF, Ale*x Curren has been at with some bad ass gangster named "Pancake".

There was none stop Gerard baiting during the game on Sunday and, from my view, it certainly affected him....

not much more to say

OOoooh, the FA Cup.

All is not well with Rafa-lution pal and no 5 fingered salute is ever gonna change that.

Steve Gerard (Gerard, kisses the badge on his chest, then hands in a transfer request, Steve Gerard Gerard) is not a happy bunny. His Mrs is playing away and scoring, which is more than the team can do and, he's being played out of position.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A WEEK MAKES FOR MOMO

Mark Platt 29 October 2006;

Momo Sissoko believes Saturday's impressive win over Aston Villa can be the launchpad for a sustained push up the Premiership table and to possible glory in Europe.

Like everyone connected to the club the combative Mali midfielder was inconsolable after the disappointing loss to Manchester United seven days ago.

But having played a key role in ending Villa's unbeaten record he feels a whole lot better now is looking ahead with optimism to the forthcoming challenges at home and abroad.

"Yes it was a good win, especially coming so soon after the difficult match at Manchester United," said Sissoko.

"It was good to get back to winning ways in the Premiership. Everybody played well. It was a good team performance and afterwards the gaffer was happy.

"It's important for everybody; the players, supporters and management that we try to win every game. That is our number one objective.

"This Liverpool team is better than last year and our aim now is to get back into the top four of the Premiership and continue to progress in the Champions League. To do that we need to keep working hard and keep improving."

Next up for the Reds is Bordeaux in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The 2005 European Champions stand on the brink of qualification for the knockout phase and Sissoko added: "Playing in Europe is very important and for the club to win the trophy again would be very good. But first we must qualify from our group and the game against Bordeaux won't be easy. They are a good team."

I'll do the honours this time Mr Boj....

Vermin the latest club to be taken over.

The fans who sang “You sold your soul to Sky” after Murdoch’s bid for United in September ’98 are strangely muted in opposition to their history being bought by a pair of Yanks armed with empty promises.

From the Guardian:

Liverpool yesterday agreed to a £470m takeover by George Gillett Jr and Tom Hicks, and the American tycoons will waste little time getting down to business. Work will start on a £215m ground in Stanley Park within 60 days as the pair, who have impressive histories in stadium building and development, promised supporters "the greatest facility in the sport".

There was also a one-hour meeting with the team manager, Rafael Benítez, to discuss transfer policy for the summer, and a bold claim that the new owners would try to take on Chelsea and Manchester United at the summit.

Gillett and Hicks seized the opportunity to score public relations points by demonstrating their openness and willingness to address supporters, and by the fact that they had not borrowed against the club to fund the purchase, in contrast with the takeover of Manchester United by the Glazers which met with hostility.

For a group of fans who have not seen their club win a league title in 17 years, however, the details of the takeover will have been of far less interest than the message from the two Americans, whose sporting interests include Gillett's ice hockey club, the Montreal Canadiens, and Hicks's baseball franchise, the Texas Rangers, and ice hockey team, the Dallas Stars.

“This club is not far from being the best in the world, not very far from being truly a dominant side. That's what we want,” said Gillett. “We need to look at all the resources we possibly can to compete with Manchester United and Chelsea. It's wrong to say we want to match Chelsea in terms of spending but we do want to match or exceed Chelsea in winning, and there are many ways to do that. It's not just about spending money.”

To take advantage of a variety of local and EC grants, work on the stadium has to start within 60 days and Hicks indicated he would have his own experts look at the plans to assess whether his know-how could be used in the 60,000-seat project.

Their £470m investment is, reportedly, broken down as a £175m for the shares, £80m to cover the club's debt and £215m for the stadium.
