Rich Yanks think they rule the world, either collectively as a nation or in gangs or pairs who by way of their culture think that might is always right.

They may have a US passport but they are not American as that termed is being used here. They are Chinese

how do you know they were born in china?

Reading the full story it reads like the script of an American teen movie. All the characters are there, the brain-dead drunk, the trolling woman, the bullies, and the bar fight. Testosterone rules.

I am sure that this scene plays out in every Thai resort town. Teens, in-betweeners and alcohol just don't mix (some older guys as well). If the Aussie wants to continue staying in Thailand he better get street-smart real quick, whether guilty or innocent of starting this fracas. Mix it up with some the characters that frequent KS and he could have his worst nightmare.

Here's a script that fit's this scene:

Phil: We’re looking for our friend, Teddy. Have you seen him?

Tattoo Joe: Not since last night. Why? What happened?

Stu: Yeah, I’m supposed to marry his sister tomorrow and we kinda’ lost him.

Tattoo Joe: Oh, well. Then, [bleep] it!

Stu: What? What do you mean, [bleep] it?

Tattoo Joe: Bangkok has him now, and she’ll never let him go.

Koh Samui is a dangerous crap hole. I just totally avoid areas where there are numerous foreigners. Never have a problem far from the foreign slums like Samui, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Koh Phi Phi, or anywhere listed in the Lonely Planet.

The assailants were sons of a rich Chinese AND American daddy warbucks? Well, that's a horse of a different color.

"No, Joe, no do no wrong--see?"

Return happiness now, please.

the aussie kid and his family as millionaires also. he was studying at the most expensive international school in Bangkok and balling it up in Koh Samui.

No doubt he had enjoyed the benefit of corruption and significant wealth in Thailand, whether that was simple stuff like avoiding motorbike fines or more.

Now the boot is on another foot and it is all "young aussie with promising future as student/model" vs "super rich chinese bad guys" , when it is really just two silver spoon kids who got into a bar fight and one guy ended up a lot worse for wear.

Obviously you know nothing about the case

I know it very well.

Sure the aussie kid might have got sucker punched and the chinese guys played the system but the whole "I'm just a poor kid with a bright future vs mega bad rich chinese guys" is a bullshit storyline. The school he was studying at is 800,000+ a year in fees. He was also working illegally in Thailand and well off financially.

it is 2 rich kids who got into a bar fight in a country with endemic corruption.

I know only what I read about this incident. But, even if the Aussie boy was at fault, there was no need to beat him unconscious, kick out teeth and shatter bones.

I have followed this case from the start and the two that assaulted Jack should be locked up they are just animals.

Its obvious the Millionaire father has paid big money for this.

More injustice in Thailand, make me sick.coffee1.gif

I have been attacked by a few looneys on the forum for making this post.

Money can buy you every thing in Thailand, the country is rotten to the core.

So Ms Hansen thought too, 10,000,000 baht compensation to drop the case?

Any chance of any links?

I have to admit that this forum's good in that it's got lots of stories, but the amount of <deleted>, speculating on things and the pass remarkable approach about abslutely anything on any subject is what lets it down.

The best example of this is the threads on people overstaying their visas and wanting to know what best to do, only to get a wankathon of <deleted> having a go at them and not giving them any advice.

Back to this story. Am I right in understanding that the Ozzy's been in prison all this time, awaiting a trial?

Thailand's not actually any more bent than any country, it's just they're shit at hiding it, and they'll let themselves get corrupted over the amount of money most people would let blow in the wind. I am still trying to give them some info. on something quite massive, which involves a large British firm totally raping them to the tune of tens of millions of dollars a month, and it goes straight over their heads.

I don't think this "don't get into fights" 'advice' is totally childish. People don't always want to get into fights. I don't know what happened here but a lot of rich peoples' children are psychopaths as it's intergenerational. More rich people are psychopaths than average or poor people. This is just science. Rich people are more likely to break the law by a long stretch---mainly as a result of this. I'm not saying that having a million dollars makes anyone rich, having said that. You would struggle to buy a house in many parts of the UK with only that much.

SO NAIVE!

The legal system here is rotten to the core. It is driven by money and / or influence. I have more experience of this than most members here.

I know a crooked lawyer (most of them are) in Bangplee who was "struck off" more than 20 years ago, but continues to run a busy law office. He even has the neck to stand next to his junior lawyers in court, giving them instructions. He succeeded in cheating me in a civil case which almost resulted in the loss of my home. He then filed a number of false charges against me in order to extort money. I now understand why most Thais avoid lawyers and use "hit-men" instead.

What may seem like a lot of likes from a lot of loonies doesn't necessarily say a lot really so don't give yourself too many congratulations too soon about 30+ of them. Bear in mind that if the number of members that ThaiVisa quotes is accurate then in excess of 200,000 members didn't "like" your post

I can assure you he is not rich. He is 20, has been living in Bangkok for 15 years and did part time modellng to save to go to uni in Australia.

However, what has his money, or lack of it, got to do with him walking into a bar and being bashed.

Does it make you feel better if you hink he has money and therefore he somehow deserved it or its not so bad?

never any winners in a fight when the police are involved in any country, winner goes to jail loser looser to hospital, no matter who started it.

in my opinion better to be tried by 12 than nursed by 1

vv

Or in this case loser goes to hospital then moves on to jail.

I wonder if the police will have managed to lose the cctv footage that showed the guy trying to get away from the rich bully boys?

I haven't seen a bar fight in the last 8 years that wasn't filmed on someone's phone - and in the last few years at least a dozen phones. Wouldn't take much "inspector work" to get to the truth behind this.

Sorry for the Australian who is the victim. I guess this is more good publicity for Thailand's tourist industry. Soon tourists will get the message which is "no matter what you do it is your fault." Moving in the direction of Saudi Arabia which can only be a bad thing

Probably has more to do with alcohol and egos. My last venture into a Night Club ended with some idiot foreigner sucker punching me out of the blue (I never saw where he came from or why he hit me) and ended with the bouncers pulling me off the guy while I was trying my best to separate his head from his body in a choke hold. I ended up making a trip to the hospital has the A'hole demolished my glasses and damaged my retina.

That ended my Night Club days. I've gotten too old for that silly-assed nonsense.

I hear what you say. Unfortunately there are a lot of those kind around. Alcohol and ego is the big problem in Saudi as well believe it not.

@Metapod Still doesnt excuse their actions

And never did I say it did.

The point is that all the media has been putting out slanted stories painting him as 'johnny everyman vs mega rich baddies' and it simply isn't true at all.

He was a rich kid who got into a fight with another rich kid. The same thing would play out if this guy got into an altercation with a local thai guy. He would pay his way out and move on. This time he was on the receiving end and the other guys was evidently had a lot more cash to settle the situation with.

"More injustice in Thailand, make me sick"

Hardly unique to Thailand. Celebrities and the uber-wealthy usually get different treatment even in Farangland. Do you really think everyone is treated equally in the US or Europe or anywhere else.[/

That said, I assume when you say you've "followed this case," that you've read about it in the news. Trial by media and he-said-she-said, is rarely reliable. Bar fights fueled by alcohol, testosterone and other stimulants is seldom easy to analyze and being rich doesn't automatically mean someone is an "animal," just as being not-so-rich doesn't make one a blameless innocent.

RGR10.jpg

I have followed this case - and seen some of the cctv- this has been widely reported and on social media with evidence - are you really this naive? The girl involved went home without making a statement and then refused to make one , the changs father arrived and the charges were reversed and put on Jack ( a Thai citizen) . They attacked him because he dared to talk to a girl they considered their property for the evening.

Just look at the macho gay boy narcissistic pictures the Changs keep posting on the Internet.

Just a shame they didn't have the balls to fight one on one - maybe then Jack would have committed an assault - he didn't start it, did nothing more than try to defend himself - end of story.

Big money bully boys ( girls) always try and buy their way out.

Are they really American? From Raymond Chang's father's bio, he seems to be mainland Chinese, educated in the USA:

http://raymond-nobu-chang.blogspot.com

Like many rich Chinese I know, they seek and can pay for alternative citizenship. Usually American or Canadian with some going to Australia.

These are members of wealthy, connected families in China. As such they receive a very different sort of justice than the average normal people. They are more used to the Thai system where money, influence and connections trump the actual facts of a case every time.

I remember the PM promising the Aussie's mum he would personally follow this case and ensure justice was done.

Seeing how this is the same bunch of coppers who investigated the Koh Tao murders, what chance that happening.

Come on PM, get off your bum and sort these bent coppers out.

How do you know it isnt true?

Who paid his school fees?

What job does his parents do?

How much money do they have?

Having seen the CTV from the club, the girl is definately lying.

Are you sure the images were clear? CTV is not to reliable here as the bombing case showed and also the BB murder case down south. Kids raised in a money environment are taught that they are above the rest. They are immune from persecution, prosecution and the police.

Sounds like Tiffany was drunk and getting drunker. She may have been an easy pick up, Jack got in first.

Later the two Americans decided to muscle in on the situation and snatch Tiffany away from Jack. An argument occurred, hence Jack being overpowered resulting in the present situation. The lucky one`s with the richest mummy and daddy win out, something like an auction, the highest bidders get justice on their side.
