PATTAYA: -- On Saturday Morning the body of a 48 year old German Tourist was found on Pattaya Beach.

Mr. Torsten Drew was found slumped-over, behind rocks on the Beach opposite the entrance to Soi 6. He was holding an empty bottle of whisky and nearby was a second un-opened bottle of whisky.

Khun Sungop aged 48 told Police that he first saw the man on the Beach drinking alone just after midnight and decided to check on him at 8.30am and found him slumped over and unresponsive. He is thought to have died at least 2 hours before he was found.

RIP buddy. Another Disneyland fatality.

Looks like he went out doing what he loved. RIP

An untold sad story there.

Speaking of sad stories. Quite often when I walk along the beach in the morning even starting around 7:30 or 8:00 there are a few foreigners in various states of consciousness on the beach or the walkway with a brown bottle or two nearby ... often with a mat they appear to have slept on. Makes you wonder how they ended up in those circumstances and how they'll manage to extricate themselves from what must seem a hopeless situation.

On my first visit as a as a 17-y-o mariner to the Far East, I was warned not to "get drunk, nor sleep on the beach in a drunken stupor - because rats would come along and eat your feet!" Good deterrent! I still have my two feet!

I knew a farang who came to LOS with several million baht and blew the lot on a number of Thai wives, gf's, booze ,weed, expensive equipment disappearing from his house and failed business ideas.

Ended up sleeping in a temple compound with monks and eventually broke the law and did serious jail time.

Most destitute farangs will end up same as the deceased German guy for some or all of the above reasons.

Farangs are far better off taking sanctuary at the temple rather than sleeping on the beach where you run the risk of being urinated on by dogs and rats and obviously immigration/visa sweeps..

Several mill eh,that would last me a year on the tear.

More alcohol related death........hmmmmmm

If that is the case on hand here........then should we feel remorse for a person who drinks themselves into a self inflicted, alcohol related demise as it takes considerable amount of time to sink that low resulting in death from alcohol consumption.

What to do, what to do???

Poor Guy , we never know what goes on in Peoples minds, to make them turn to drink or drugs or whatever..

Either way its sad, hope he is in a better place now...

Sad for his family back home to hear about his final hours.....

There is a distinct lack of compassion from many Thai visa posters whenever someone dies in these sort of circumstances.

Makes you wonder how many can be so callous and hard hearted.

RIP

A man has died, please show a little respect and compassion.

This is not the place for poor attempts at humour.
