I'm sure this question has been beat to death so sorry in advance for asking it but none of the answers I've seen seem to specifically address the exact issue I have here. I have a double entry tourist visa issued on 20 august 2015 with an enter before date of 19 november. it specifically says "Enter before: 19 Nov 2015". Now, I know that Thai rules are often not always as we might expect them in the west. Does this really mean that one must enter BEFORE the 19th, as in the 18th or 17th, or could one enter also on the 19th, the enter before date on the visa? thanks in advance.

It means that at 00.01 on the 20/11/2015 the visa has expired.

Gain entry on 19/11/2015 and the visa is still valid.

Remember that BOTH entries allowed by the visa have to be made prior to the visa expiring.

  • I believe you're still good to enter on the 'enter before' date.

The visa is valid for 3 months and that 3 months ends at midnight on the 19th.

Personally I've never felt comfortable entering on the enter before date.

The reason is that I have to be somewhere else for appointment on the morning of the 19th and already have my flight booked for later in the day on the 19th, so would prefer to fly then rather than reschedule, but just want to get some assurances if this would pose a problem.

All you have to worry about is arriving at immigration before midnight on the 19th.

Not something I personally would wish to do as untoward, unforeseen events which cause delays can and do occur.

The date of departure does not matter other than your admitted to stay date. It is the date of entry that is important. If you can return on the same day you leave it would be OK.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I have an appointment in Hong Kong on the morning of the 19th and then a flight booked to Thailand for later that day. Would that be a problem? It both departs Hong Kong and arrives Thailand on the 19th.

Not a problem at all.

Whats the scheduled time of arrival? Where you come from? Just make sure you don't miss the flight tongue.png
