JeffreyO Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Hey, I remember some hubub that the US Embassy was going to stop adding new pages to passports in need. Has that taken effect? I did a search but I wasn't able to find the exact date. Thanks!
Jingthing Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Correction of previous post: After December 31, 2015, the Department of State will no longer add extra visa pages to U.S. passports. http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/090115_message_to_us_citizens.html
JeffreyO Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 That's unfortunate, I rather like this passport. I have a non-o multi entry, I probably should stop traveling every month lol.
Jingthing Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 According to the U.S. embassy, you do have until the end of this year to get new pages. I corrected my previous post saying differently. Oops!
FireMedic Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I thought it was in effect after the new year.....but I could be wrong.
Jingthing Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I thought it was in effect after the new year.....but I could be wrong. No, you're correct.
ubonjoe Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Adding pages ends on January 1st of next year. See:http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/passports.html
eldragon Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I wouldn't do it anyway. Got some pages to my passport and it nearly ruined the thing. A couple border agents have even suggested it's too dilapidated and I should get a new one.
JeffreyO Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Hrm... that sounds rough Eldragon... my passport is pretty pristine at the moment. It's nice to know it's an option though!
mesquite Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 how many sets of new pages can we get? edit. just found it. 3 sets of 24, if they fit. From the website: Note: The bindings of U.S. passports can accommodate a maximum of three 24-page inserts of extra pages. We will add two 24-page inserts at once if space allows.
inThailand1 Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 I just found out I have to travel out of Thailand next week, but I need more visa stamp pages first. I know they don't insert pages anymore. But do they create the new 58 page passport while you wait? I am in Chiang Mai. Thanks for any info.
Jingthing Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 My understanding is that all US passports need to printed in the US now. Probably allow about two weeks.
longball53098 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Same you need a new renewed passport no more page adding takes about 2 weeks

As said it can take up to 2 weeks to get it but the the average is about 10 days. You can apply at the US consulate in Chiang Mai. Passport application info is here: https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/adult-passport-renew/
inThailand1 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 I was able to get a new US passport in a few hours, but it is a one year validity and only has about six pages. But I had to plead and convince them I needed this emergency passport. Knowing this might help anyone that needs a new US passport right away. Worked out really good for me.

Not a standard passport. More like an emergency travel document generally used to fly back to the USA when you've lost your passport.
