motorcyle license expiry

Featured Replies

The misses thinks i can still ride for up-to 3 months after the expiry date on the license,

does anyone have a definite answer ???

i don`t want to be rushing around to get it done in the first 2 days i get back if there is no real emergency to do so..

thanks in advance..

Once mine was over due for like 4 months, didn't have any issue. Just paid penalty fee of a few hundreds per month.

? I am not 100% sure what you mean with "license".

Do you mean tax/insurance for the motorbike ("sticker") or your driving license (want to renew)?

In case of driving license the rules for renewal are clearly stated:

http://www.dlt.go.th/th/index.php?option=com_content&id=3471%3Arenew&Itemid=88

1) IN CASE OF DRIVING LICENCE EXPIRED MORE THAN 1 YEAR - TAKE A THEORY TEST

2) IN CASE OF DRIVING LICENCE EXPIRED MORE THAN 3 YEARS - TAKE A THEORY TEST AND PRACTICAL TEST

So within one year there is no "penalty".

Don't ask me about the legal repercussion when actually driving with an expired license (in case of accident).

I am not aware of a grace period (does not mean there is not).

Late payment of tax/insurance has a small penalty.

Again don't ask me about legal aspect.
