So far as I can see immigration will take a statement of dividends received, so paying for a letter really means paying for the right to have someone in the embassy know about your affairs rather than someone in the immigration office knowing. On balance probably worth the £50.

Which immigration office accepts a "statement of dividends received" as evidence of income. ?

This sounds like and probably is Rumour !

Do not forget that even with a letter/affidavit Immigration can request evidence of where claimed income is sourced.

That is not what was said.

He said that immigration would accept a statement of dividends received in a letter from the embassy.

Try reading what he wrote again !

He is saying better to get a letter than have others know about ones 'affairs'

If they won't accept a statement then I am mistaken. I thought they would. I suppose it would be woefully open to abuse - dodgy printers offer anything you like all over the web.

It is not a question of what they will accept. Immigration do not ask for any documents regarding income, they ask that you provide a letter from the embassy to confirm your income. Depending on the embassy you would send any documentation supporting your request for a letter to the embassy concerned.

Immigration Officers do reserve the right to ask for supplementary evidence to confirm that an applicant meets the financial requirements, over and above the submission of an embassy letter.

Whilst I would say this isn't common, it can and does happen and there have been reports on the issue on this forum over the years.
