President Barack Obama calls for more military support in fight against ISIL

WASHINGTON: -- President Barack Obama is calling for more military contribution for the coalition in the fight against the so-called Islamic State terrorists and revealed the US Defense Secretary Ash Carter would travel to the Middle East on Tuesday to secure more support.

British ESA astronaut Peake says pressure suits him just fine

PARIS: -- Survival training in a frozen Russian forest provided a last taste of fresh air for British astronaut Tim Peake (ESA) and his team mates the American Tim Kopra (NASA) and Russian Yuri Malenchenko (Roscosmos). They are set to go into orbit this Tuesday to re-crew the International Space Station (ISS).

Peshawar prepares for sad memories of Army School massacre

PESCHAWAR: -- The first anniversary is approaching of the terrible army school massacre in Peshawar. Last year nine heavily-armed Islamic extremists scaled the walls of the school and killed more than 140 people, 134 of them children, before being killed or blowing themselves up.

His Majesty grants audience to new judges

BANGKOK: -- His Majesty the King granted an audience to Supreme Court President Weerapol Tungsuwan to lead new judges of court of justice, new Constitutional Court judges, new Military Court judges and new public prosecutors to be sworn in at the HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana Hall at the Siriraj Hospital at 5:05 pm Monday.

The hall is located on the 14th floor of the Chalermprakiart Building of the hospital.

Bergdahl to face desertion charge in general court-martial

WASHINGTON (AP) — Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was held captive by the Taliban for five years and freed in exchange for five detainees in Guantanamo Bay, will face charges of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy in a general court-martial, the Army announced on Monday.

PRD's Music in the Garden features classic hits

BANGKOK, 15 December 2015, (NNT) – The Government Public Relations Department (PRD) is scheduled to hold its 49th ‘Music in the Garden’ event in the Public Relations Department (PRD) auditorium at Soi Ari in Bangkok on Thursday (December 24th, 2015) between 4:00-8:00 p.m.


This week’s concert features the famous national artist Ruangthong Thonglanthom with her classic hits (see video below). Her songs were used in many Thai accredited TV series; her songs are very much recognized by all generations including the youth of today. Her entrancing songs promise to create a most enjoyable event.



‘Music in the Garden’ will be held at the PRD Conference Hall in Soi Areesampan, Rama 6 Road, Phayathai District, Bangkok; beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday. Admission to the concert is free of charge.

Nigerian Shiites say soldiers have killed hundreds

KADUNA, Nigeria (AP) — Soldiers killed hundreds of Shiite Muslims this weekend after their group opened fire on the convoy of Nigeria's army chief, the Shia Islamic Movement and military reports said Monday. Other reports put the number of dead at about 20.

700,000 people evacuated in typhoon-affected Philippines provinces
