Thai IPTV?

My in-laws are coming and the guest-room downstairs has no tv connection so i need a solution to get the tv working in thai.

I'm assuming the best way for them to get some thai tv is to stream it with iptv?

Whats the easiest to use streaming box (they are old thai folks).

I've got a 10mb fiber connection.

Where are you located?

I would think they'd be more comfortable with either a Terrestrial Digital Set Top Box, or a generic Satellite Digital Set Top Box -- both operate very similar and have similar basic Thai channels.

The Terrestrial Digital Set Top Box is probably the cheapest and requires an antenna to pull in the signal from a local tower.

** or as Lopburi3 pointed out, connect a digital antenna to a TV that already has a DVB-T2 Digital Tuner built-in and you should be set.

The Satellite Digital Set Top Box requires a small Ku-band Dish with a clear view of the southern sky.

Yes, you can get the same channels streamed over the Internet, but will they be able to control the box.

If you do have an Android Set Top Box that can connect to a TV, then download the PSI Channel app. Probably the easiest and quickest app I've found out there for pulling in the basic Thai channels, all for free.

Cheers.

I am in Hua Hin and the room does not have a antenna connection and i don't want messy cabling to install one.

I do have a minix player (although i kinda use that for myself) and a spare google chrome stick.

I'll try PSI channel app.

ILikeHD has all the Thai channels at a small price.

The Thai channels are all free on iLikeHD. Lots of other apps and web sites offer free as well.

I will try this too thanks. Easy to use interface is important for my inlaws.

That is not strictly true, all free to air Thai channels are free, the remainder such as Arena 1-6 and others require a subscription.

For non tecky locals I think you would be far better off with a terrestrial set top antenna and digital set top decoder. That's probably what they use at home and has been purposely developed to comply with local knowledge and (non) understanding of all things technical. Cost would be around 1000 baht for both.

All the apps I've tried so far have pop up ads which I can't stand as they are hard to get off with a minix remote and too difficult to handle for the inlaws. Im getting a antenna with digital box for them. 1000baht.

And your Minix box will have no popup ads anymore

By the way, if you have Kodi installed, Israelive addon has an extensive Thai Live TV section.

The android PSI Mobile TV apps has ads??

Same for the other Thai content providers, AIS Live TV, CTH Everywhere, TrueVisions Anywhere, H TV (TrueMove H), TOT iptv ...??

I would expect the third-party independents that 'borrow' content media streams to have ad-based revenue, but not the NBTC licensed corps.

But I assume that for AIS live tv you need an AIS connection, for TOT iptv a TOT connection and so on.

Some people will have none of these.

If anyone wants ilikehd search in the browser (Google or Chrome) sign up with an email and password and once your in the app can be downloaded from the website. It does normally work well but with some breaks in service. All of the content is stolen from CTH / True / Sky but it's legal to watch nevertheless. It's pre-payment option using True Money is the best. You can pre-pay from a short a time as three hours, I think. If your away or not interested in watching anything it costs nothing but is waiting for you when you return. It's a good set up.

And yes, I confirm, I have no connection with ilikehd other than being a satisfied customer.

How can streaming stolen content be legal to watch?

http://www.fact-uk.org.uk/types-of-content-theft/

Streaming

Illegal streaming allows you to view unauthorised copyrighted content on demand without downloading the illegal file. Websites may stream directly or provide links to content hosted on other websites. Both hosting unauthorised content and providing links to unauthorised content is illegal.

Illegal streaming sites often provide a subscription service whereby you can pay to stream illegal content. These sites can often host advertisements for legitimate products or services alongside the illegal content. They may also use trademarks, cover art and provide a plot summary or cast list as a means to fool consumers into believing that the website is legal.

I have a TOT Fiber2U and AIS 3G/4G mobile Internet.

AIS Live TV and CTH 'Everywhere' don't currently work on my new IQ II running Lollipop, but have on my past mobile devices.

The TrueMove 'H TV' app threw up a single ad on startup, and a static ad at the bottom, full screen and no ad in landscape.

PSI app has no ads and displays full screen when in landscape.

TrueVisions 'Anywhere' can act as a partial extension of 180 channels of your Cable subscription, or you can use a Facebook login to view 22 Free-To-Air channels. Its interface is really geared for a mobile phone or tablet user.

TOT iptv is a subscription service and requires a login, though you can create a login by providing email and national ID or passport info.

The apps work on both networks for me, so one could assume they'll work on others inside Thailand.

So you're talking about subscription apps. It's normal they don't have ads, but I think the posters above are talking about free apps.
