Gents,

I have a few AC's and the bottoms are rusted through pretty badly.

Worst Case scenario is replace the whole unit outside the condo....

Alot better would be just buy a new tray thats sits at the bottom of the case but I'm told this is not possible ?

Thoughts ? Tips / Suggestions ?

Best Regards,

SB.

It probably would be pretty hard to buy just the casing bottom as I expect the models you have are pretty old...heck, even for a relatively new model I doubt that is something the manufacturer stocks for replacement. I expect you could get some flat sheet metal made pretty cheap to put on the bottom. But unless the bottom casing is so bad that it's causing components like the compressor, condenser fins to start to fall out why worry about it? Maybe just an appearance thing?

If that old suspect you would save money on electric by buying a current model - efficiency has increased greatly over the years.

Am sure you could have someone make trays if you wanted to spend the money - or buy replacement compressor units to match your air handler. But if these units are to be operated a lot suspect best to buy current models.

Hi Pib, not an appearence thing as hanging on the back of the condo block and not visible, more worried components might fall out !

I think I'll try the flat sheet metal option ...

Trouble is have about 8 units so will cost quite a bit ....
