Microsoft Word In Thai

Neeranam

Recommended Posts

I have Thai and English options set on my Language task bar displayed at the bottom of my screen, which means I have to use the mouse to click between languages when typing text.

However its a bit inconvenient to keep moving from the keypad to the mouse and back all the time when typing in both languages.

Is there any way to activate a keystroke to make this switch?

Thanks

I think I had the same problem neeranam mentioned. I installed the Thai version of Office. All menus were in Thai.

I couldn’t find a way to change the menu to English (there must be a way to do it). I tried tools> language settings etc but it still didn’t change the menu to English. I could type in English but couldn’t understand the Thai menu functions.

As I couldn’t find a solution at the time I gave up. I took the easy way out, I uninstalled the Thai Office then installed English Office with Thai language support.

I think that the recent versions of Office require an add on for multi language support for the user interface. If you set documents to unicode then the editing should not be an issue, though the different fonts/coding combinations for Thai can cause problems. Try the link below for a rummage in Mocrosoft's site.

Are you using Microsoft Office XP?

Might be something under:

Start>Programs>Microsoft Office Tools>Microsoft Office XP Language Settings?

Just had a look at this with my office laptop. It'll modify the language support for Office documents, but won't modify the language used in the front-end (menus, dialogue windows etc).

My install of Office at home had exactly this problem, same as Neeranam's I believe. Only way around it was to uninstall and reinstall an English version of Office.

I have windows XP. Although I just got all my stuff installed again, on the screen it says "Windows 2006, V3".

What do you mean - "behind the screens"?

Thanks, I'll check and get back to you, just going out now.

In some Microsoft products the localisation process contains the 'original' US-English dialogues, but they are turned off, so that only the locale boxes {UI, Menu} are displayed on screen, hence my 'behind the screens' allusion.

On my XP keyboard can toggle between typing Thai\English with ~ % button. My 10 year old showed me that !

Fosa

Doesn't work for me. Any other suggestions?

You can choose your own settings to toggle between input languages, so yours may not be the same as Fosa's.

There may be a quicker way of accessing the relevant option, but here's the way I do it:

start > control panel> date, time, language and regional options > regional and language options > languages> details> key settings.

You should then, hopefully end up here:

Scouse.

If you're using XP the way to set how you toggle languages while typing is in the Control Panel. You go to Regional & Language Options - Languages - Details - preferences. You can set it up so as you click an icon on the quick launch bar or you can select a key combination of your choice.

If you already have the keyboard icon then right click on it and select settings.

My PC is now set to switch input languages with Left-alt + Shift keys. Tried to reduce the 2 keys to one using the grave accent key option ( ~ %) but when I restarted Windows it did not change, and now the grave accent option seems to have disappeared. (or maybe I just can't find it again)

Anyway I am now happy with the 2 key switch.

Thanks

Change the toolbar menu system from Thai to English...Any advice on how to do this?

Cheers :o

May be some info here:

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Regional & Language Options>Advanced tab>'Language for non-unicode programs'...and in the drop-down menu, change from Thai to English.

Then try installing Office.
