Boon Mee what have burger kiosks or drones got to do with understanding the economic and social benefits of a higher minimum wage? If a business can increase their profits by eliminating the cost of doing business they will do that whether the minimum wage is $1 per hour.

Yes raising the minimum wage will be a HUGE boost to business and generate employment growth the economic growth will dwarf any tax tinkering around the edges. The only drawback would be controlling hyperinflation and a wage explosion as companies vie for a shrinking employment market. Sometimes too much of a good thing can bite you in the ass. Also you generate innovation and entrepreneurs who can realise the seed capital required to launch competition into the market place driving the economy from the bottom up.

Your kiosk and drone technology disruption comment reflects the urgency of publicly funded education. The jobs of the future will not be flipping burgers or humping around department stores they will be high tech and skilled. You need an affordable and responsive higher education system to deliver the skilled people to the market place. Otherwise you will be importing them from Nations that do and paying a premium for them.

That will be the future whether Right Wingers want to accept it or not. America can no longer accept bumping along the bottom forever.

Why is it apples and oranges? Military is okay to Socialise but education is not. The big bad government levies taxes and spends it on free training for military personnel so they can earn an income. Pure unadulterated Socialism. Giving away stuff for free aren't they?

If the young woman qualifies for University admission to a public not private University and the $226,000 relates to tuition fees only, then yes the taxpayer would fund her.

National Defense as a responsibility of the federal government is clearly spelled out in Article One, Section Eight of the US Constitution which spells out 17 clear duties of the government. National defense is listed in six of them.

Those clearly defined responsibilities are....

A universal college education is not a free giveaway, it is an investment in the future of the country that would have returns far greater than the initial investment, so are roads, health insurance, prenatal care etc. etc

Bernie has accomplished more in this one campaign than Clinton has in her entire political career

Even if he is not elected, Bernie Sanders has helped the country immensely.

He has opened the eyes of millions of Americans to the real issues that are really important to the working people of the country.

I won't list those issues here, yo have heard them in Bernie's speeches for many many years now.

He stays on topic and does not change his views every time the wind changes direction, like others do.

Even if things don't improve for working Americans over the next four or six years, they will change.

He has started a much needed revolution that will not die in November 2016.

Feel the Bern..for years to come!

Tax payer money should never under any circumstance go to finance private, especially "charter" or religious based/sponsored schools. In fact the right wing has been stealing tax money meant for public education to support their version of schooling for years, while cutting public education budgets. Tax on Wall Street criminals/banksters will pay for free tuition for public university. America and the capitalists need a well educated public, although they don't want a thinking or analytical person. Could be "dangerous" to the system. And before it even starts, liberal arts degrees are important, not just engineering, math etc. America is in dire need of critical thinkers, not taught in schools since the Reagan regime. Oh, teachers make too much money but it is OK for CEO's to acquire great wealth at the expense of the people? Warped logic. BTW, I grew up in a school teacher family. My mother taught school for some 40 years. Cousins taught school, one was married to the President of Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas. I understand a bit about the importance of teachers.

Blaming teachers for the state of the education system is like blaming your doctor for the mess that the US healthcare system is in. Most do the best they can with the constraints imposed on them by the elected officials. The latter being typically too busy counting ."donations" rather than concerning themselves with the well being of the masses

Doctors are a big part of the problem in the American medical system.

In America people become doctors so they can become wealthy, not to help those in need.

They work hand in hand with greedy insurance companies and pharma corporations to squeeze every penny possible out of the sick and dying.

It's all about greed, and yes, doctors are very guilty.

In America, doctors, like lawyers are vultures, preying on and profiting from the suffering and misery of others.

Their victims are often financially ruined by them when they finish "helping" them.

Operative words being

So both Common Defense and General Welfare is in the Constitution, .

but according to you using general funds for the common defense is not socialistic but using common funds to provide for the general welfare is?

Yes, the Constitution does state Congress "shall have the power" to provide for a military and a defense of the land (Funny, it doesn't state "must"). However, it does not state that Congress shall pour amazingly inordinate sums of the taxpayers' money into the hands of the military-industrial complex especially when so much of that money could be more wisely spent on the welfare of its citizenry.

And, as Sirineou pointed out above, US Congress (not to mention that the States who, under their own constitutions, may also fund universities) has the power to fund universities if they so choose. My guess is that there are no US Supreme Court cases that prevent Congress from doing so, with perhaps some restrictions maybe having to do with religion (Establishment Clause) and maybe something else.

So, I really do not see how you have a constitutional argument here.

I'll remove from my next lists of posts. They are coming and Clintonistas will not like. I'm truly afraid that Clintons will loose the election if elevated to empress to be. On the other hand, never in my life time have I seen two more undeserving, evil candidates for president. While the Republican Party has a nut case fascist for it's candidate, he got there more or less honestly, certainly can't say the same for Clintons.

Progressive Jews for Bernie are ready to support Hillary Clinton. So should ALL progressives.

For progressive Jews seeking their footing after the demise of the Sanders presidential campaign, the comments were also a sign that party infighting between supporters of Hillary Clinton and of Sanders is a luxury they can no longer afford.

“I have hope that people will understand how big the threat is on our country with having Donald Trump as president,” said Stosh Cotler, CEO of Bend the Arc, a progressive Jewish advocacy group focused on domestic issues. “We have people who support Bernie and people who support Clinton and I hope we can all put our weight behind the nominee,” Cotler said. She noted that the group’s PAC Bend the Arc Jewish Action will endorse whomever candidate is chosen as the Democratic nominee.
