Minister of Industry declares new economic policies to foreign investors

The Minister of Industry today explained the Thai economic policy under the guidance of the Interim Government to European and American investors in order to build up confidence toward the Thai investment climate.

Mr. Piyabutr Cholvijarn (ปิยบุตร ชลวิจารณ์) said that Permanent Secretary for Industry Jakramon Pasukvanich (จักรมณฑ์ ผาสุกวนิช) and representatives from related offices such as the Board of Investment (BOI) and the Office of Industrial Economics, also joined him in the clarification.

The meeting was to emphasize that the change in the government would not affect the investment conditions and privileges in Thailand. It also provided an opportunity to boost understanding towards the sufficiency economy which will be the driving force of national economy.

Mr. Piyabutr said similar meetings will be held with the Indian Chamber of Commerce shortly.

Well Mister Piyabutr, we would like very much to know the "new economic policies".

And what about "the change in the government would not affect the investment conditions and privileges in Thailand" ?

I mean, investment conditions have already changed with the nominees controversy... And there is indeed an intense debate in Thailand regarding those conditions (some even want to abolish BOI).

So ?

Or it was just another useless tea-party, to tell a few farangs "everything is sabai, the government is highly sabai, nature around us is peace and harmony. Would you like some milk in your tea" ?

We need facts for christ sake. Thailand wants business ? Business needs facts.

... The meeting was to emphasize that the change in the government would not affect the investment conditions and privileges in Thailand ...

This part worries me the most ... If no changes on those (well established and secured) foundation stones, what'll be improved?
