Staying In The North East

Featured Replies

Whats it like spending time in the North East of Thailand as a single guy. I've already done the village thing to death but whats it like in the towns and cities for living.

I mean are there bars in the cities or is it just kareoke sing-a-lokes ville there.

A general indication of accommodation prices would be appreciated. Do they have internet connections for in the rooms in any that you guys/gals know of??

I know theres more than one city there but just a rough indication would be helpful.

Cheers

Khon Kaen is quite pleasant.

There are plenty of falang-style bars catering to Thais and falang alike and some catering only to falang. There are also discos with lots of uni students.

I have stayed at Kaen Inn 80 yards from the air-con bus station and its good and clean for 500 baht.

Serviced apartment with air-con and cable tv is 4-5000 a month right in the centre.

If you budget can stretch to it then the Sofitel Raja Orchid Khon Kaen is a nice place to spend some time. Just over 2k baht a night and a world away from the competition in Khon Kaen. It's about a minute away from the nightspots as well. As johnnyk above said the Kaen Inn is good value for the money.
