Was I swindled by a business?

I decided to upgrade my 7 year old tv - still working (jvc) with a 55 inches curved samsung tv for 39.999 baht, big time discount at the appliance fair (impact muang thong thani).

Then i looked it up on lazada (website) and found it 5,000 baht cheaper. So much for the special price.

Is Lazada a trustful website?

Were you "swindled"? Prices vary with retail outlets everywhere in the world. It would seem you didn't do much homework regarding an expensive purchase. hardly a swindle.

If you search this forum, you will find many long discussions regarding "Lazada" and various members experiences with that company. You will find many good experiences and many bad. Some really like Lazada and some have sworn to never use them again.

Personally, I have used Lazada many times and have had good experiences but they have grown very rapidly in the last few years and customer service has suffered, not really easy to resolve problems if something goes wrong. It is also important to be aware of who you are actually buying an item from: Lazada itself or an affiliated vendor as that has a huge effect on warranties and sometimes, accurate item descriptions.

I usually find the CDiscount.co.th has the best prices on TV's... hard to beat them in bricks and mortar stores.

CDiscount and Lazada can both be very good, but you need to do your homework to insure your getting a fair deal. Many products that may not to available in your locale may be offered.

I have no idea how the sale of BigC will effect CDiscount which is in large part owned by BigC. No, maybe Casino is the majority owner of CDiscount. In any case, its an evolving enterprise.

But worth checking out both venues.

Don't expect much assistance or advice from Lazada's Customer Relations dept, they know next to nothing about what they're selling. I just bought a smart tv from them, as I knew what I wanted and they offered the best price. Tracking was easy and it was delivered to my home in K Phangan on time.

Did you not even got to Powerbuy's website or similar and get a reference price?

If not, caveat emptor.

I was looking around yesterday on several sites for a Television... CD discount seems to give the most technical information, about TV's (manufacturer's link)

Looking at Lazada, obviously an outlet for different companies, one TV had two different prices for the same television... One really needs to shop around for getting the best price...and making sure there is a warranty...

I am having a blank on the Hua Hin guy, that sells all kinds of stuff (good reputation) can someone post his company name please...?

Thank you yes, that is the one! thumbsup.gif

Just because an item has a promotion/sale advert attached to it saying XX percent off doesn't mean it's really a good deal. So, so common now days for a sale/promotion discount to be associated with many products and services. Like the 30 to 50% off signs in Central stores (which I don't buy anything at) on most everything they sell...and when looking at the new & improved discounted price it still shocks you. Shop around for a while before making a major (or minor) buy...check out/compare prices...control the urge to quickly buy!

50 " TV]s sell for THB 10k in Fortune town (brand new) .. go figure

I've spent a few hours these last few days looking very closely at specs on different TV models.... finally choose an LG UHD smart tv after looking at Samsung and several other brands... (from Lazada) but checked many sites.... for details... several only just in Thai, but give enough detail in English to understand. But the prices do vary for same models... as in any part of the world.

It's almost mesmerizing the details to watch out for.... but hope I have picked the best for the baht I am willing to pay! .... wink.png
