Gruesome discovery in Surin as teenager caught in love triangle hangs himself from tree

SURIN:-- A teenager in Surin sent a picture to his girlfriend as he prepared to hang himself from a tree in the woods behind a university, reports Thaivisa News.

His girlfriend received the picture but it was another three days before shocked villagers discovered the 18 year old's body swinging from a branch.

The grisly story played out in woods behind the Rachamonkhol Isaan Withaya University of Technology in Surin, north eastern Thailand.

A married couple out foraging in the woods made the horrific discovery and alerted security guards who called police. When investigating officer Phatsakorn Photaram and forensics officers arrived on the scene a large crowd had gathered.

They cut down the corpse of a young man wearing t-shirt and jeans who had evidently been dead around three days due to the decomposition of the body. A friend said he was called Joe and had come to see him to drink alcohol a few days prior.

He said Joe was known to date many girls and was caught up in a love triangle.

Investigators spoke to a girl they called "A" who was married but said she knew Joe who was from downtown Surin. She revealed that he had sent her and another woman identified as "Nong Mai" a picture as he prepared to hang himself from the tree.

In the days leading up to this the young man had been involved in several incidents, she said, where he had tried to grope young women but she had told him that she forgave him.

Police found no suspicious circumstances such as injuries and it was decided to release the body to relatives.

Here in the USA I have heard of guys that threaten to harm themselves, getting attention, the GF or ex come running, but I think it is more common that the distressed buy goes and harms the girl he is dealing with. In Thailand seems to be more of the guy harming himself.

Loss of face taken to the extreme.....silly, dumb-ass kid for doing this and causing so much angst for his family.....

There has to be more to this story! Tragic. Perhaps severe, long term depression/mental illness. When people lose it all, they lose it. Our younger generation are losing it all faster these days worldwide.

That was the first thing I thought before even reading the article.

Ahh, when decomposition gets you before hypoxia, you're in deep sh*t.
