Using a smartphone like Samsung's Galaxy series, along with an app and a small projector that shines specific information onto a motorcycle or scooter's windshield, the concept allows a rider to see navigation information and can send automated responses to emails, phone calls, and text messages while the bike is in motion. While we're tempted to say something like this could distract a rider, let's not pretend that plenty of people aren't already listening to music, glancing at a navigation system or even reading a set of directions printed on paper and attached to the tank or strapped on a wrist.

Should be a big hit in the Thai market especially. Maybe get facebook and Line on there too.

JSixpack: 99% of motorbikes in Thailand don't have a windscreen though. Scooters usually don't. Naked bikes don't. Left are basically the sports and touring bikes.

Funny how they market it as a "safety device" and then tell you how you can receive all kinds of notifications on the screen for which you have to take your eyes off the road for extended periods of times. This thing can do nothing that an earphone connection and mic for your helmet wouldn't be able to do and safer at that.

Or a proper navi for navigation purposes. And if safety is a priority than I'd suggest not to pay attention to notifications like sms, calls or facebook posts while driving. Stop at the side of the road if it's so important, then you can actually reply too.

Motorbikes surely need more innovation, but this isn't something that would be interesting to me.

I thought it was something great like a helmet visor screen, but... Nope, it's just another heads up display. Plenty of them out there already with Navigation, Facebook, Skype and Line and all kinds of recipies for disaster. There are windshields for motorbikes sold as well. These HUDs work terribly in daylight, and not at all in direct sunlight, unless you use a black sticker, which is most likely why the video only contained night demonstration.

Since Thais doesn't already use it, why would they buy this for x10 the price?

And btw, Thailand doesn't need Facebook or Line when driving or riding. Thailand needs less distractions and more focus on the road.

What could be useful is a tinted visor screen with speakers. A visor that shows speed, fuel, tire air pressure and navigation arrows/distance in opacity of 60-70%, which all can be turned off, and speakers telling you speed limits, warns you when you ride too fast, low on fuel, and navigation.

What the world really needs is for people to concentrate on riding - or driving when on the Road. All the rest is just a recipe for disaster. Get lost - pull off the road and find your way again - not attempt to use anything that is not directly related to steering, accelerating, or braking the vehicle. Tire pressure ? Get some experience and you can feel a low tire.
