Fiancee Visa Application

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. I am just about to send my folder to my girlfriend in Thailand to get her to enter it for a fiance visa but i need to know some more details that i have had a look for on the site but cannot seem to see any relevant posts.

Firstly we are expecting a baby which is due around the begining of january.

I am flying out on the 25th december and am due to return to england on the 20th january but i may be able to postpone this for say a couple of weeks which would give me 6 weeks in Thailand.

Hopefully if we get the fiance visa sorted then she will return with me. She would stay with me for about 6 weeks then return home to collect her daughter aged four and then return to England to live.

What is the timescale for a fiancee visa and would i be able to enter the application when i arrive in Bangkok in december and get it back before we set off back to England? I know that visitor visas only take a short time to process but i think that it would just be a waste of money as we would have to apply again for a fiancee visa in the future.

Also when the baby is born we will register the birth with the Thai authority but i would like to get it registered with the uk authority as well. If my name is on the thai birth certificate would this be then ok for us to get a uk passport for the baby so then i would not need a visa for the baby. How long is the wait for a passport?

We are not married yet but plan to get married during the 6 month period of the visa. Would we be able to return to Thailand in the 6 months and get married there and then return to live in England and apply for ILR? Or does the visa only allow 1 entry into the uk?

What would i need to do to allow her daughter to come to england as well? Would this be another visa application. My girlfriend has sole custody of her daughter.

I realize that I do not have much time to sort everything out whilst i am in Thailand but I would prefer to be with my girlfriend when she enters the visa application. Could I put a request on the application to maybe see if they could look at it before I have to return home?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i have done all that you want to do,i went back to thailand 2 months after meeting my fiance and took all the paperwork, nightmare i know, proof of earnings ,..bank statements, photos etc..after 2 visits to the brit embassy,we left our folder behind and i think it was 20,000 baht, they then said we would receive a phone call within a week to tell us when she would get her visa interview...we then continued our holiday and went to krabi....they called after a few days and said her interview would be in 6 weeks time,we were gutted as like you want,i was hoping to be at the interview with her to give support...this wasnt possible as i needed to go home...

anyway the wait was worth it and she got the visa, she got a flight to heathrow 2 weeks later,we got married here in the uk within the 6 months allowed...that was a happy 2 years and 2 months ago...shes just getting her indefinate stay visa sorted£335,as weve lived together in the uk for more than 2 years.....we have a house in samui, owned for a year, and want my future to be there..i am happy now that my wife has seen where i live{uk} and met my friends and family...she is as laid back as me and doesnt mind where we live....ko samui i reckon.....uk taxes etc gettin ridiculous.........i will be very surprised if you get a bangkok visa date whilst you are there, but good luck..and persevere.....in my experience its well worth it all
