It's the age old question when buying a new bike in Bangkok...

  • Honda Click 160
  • Easy to drive in traffic, no gears
  • Foot well and boot for storage (helmet/groceries)
  • Best daily bike but not ideal for weekend road trips
  • Looks meh

  • Yamaha Exciter 155
  • Not fun in heavy traffic but doable
  • No storage (biggest problem imo)
  • Fun to drive when roads open up
  • Aggressive
  • Great for out of town trips
  • Looks great (imo)

So pretty pretty much a heart vs head decision ahah. At least in my situation.

My 22 year old Suzuki Raider  still going strong.

Bought it second hand for 16,000 baht.

Only let me down once  just this week  when the spark plug failed !!

my fault as I hadn't changed it for 10 years 😱

Can put a rack and topbox on the back, but attach it only when it's needed. The cheap JDR that everybody has now comes off easily with a push of a button...

That's not a bad idea! Mine was to put a rack and have a waterproof duffle bag (like a fake North Face), kinda permanently attached on it with a bungee cord around. When not not in use, it can just but flattened. When having groceries, just untie the bungie, fill in the bag and secure it with the bungee.

Sounds complicated like that but in my mind it would work pretty easily and would keep the 'rugged look' of the bike. Plus it's already ready for weekend road trip.

Now the top box could work too at the end of the day, there's lot of time when you end up needing the storage unprepared. And I'm really not of fan of the look, especially on such small bikes.

Or I can just stop being dumb and go with the sensible solution of a Honda Click. xD

The look of it...!? 😅 I have given up on the looks years ago...!

When on tour I have both... , a 48 L topbox and a Motowolf 66 L bag in front of it on back seat, and of course huge Forza underseat... , we go on nearly a month long tours, so need all the space I can find ...

Next year will be the longest, planning a trip from Phuket to Cambodia...! 🤞🏻
