Thoughts on Immigration in Khon Kaen and Songkran

Featured Replies

Word of the Day- "sheeple"- rather appropriate, eh!
I dripped some water over the Buddhas at Khon Kaen Immigration for my 90 Day check in. KK Imm very busy these days- I was #31 with queue at #12, but a lovely police lady took my docs and rushed me, and a couple others, thru the queue while I had a quiet refreshing cup of cappuccino outside. Hear, hear, for KK Imm!
Still no sign of any water on the streets, tho on the way home did see 2 forlorn looking kids with a big bucket of water and 2 silver (not red) bowls standing by the road wondering what to do. And in case they do something inappropriate, there are bozos (I somehow hesitate to say "Thailand's finest") at every corner- more than 7elevens or mini Lotus stores, getting ready to stop the coming carnage! Still, the one beautiful/"happy" thing that they can't seem to stop, is the proliferation of Dok Koon (Rajapruek) trees that are truly lovely in their golden shower splendour, lining most of the streets in KK which is as hot as Hades this year. So, if you can't stop for the water, just stop for the flowers! (Tho, in our little park in the middle of our compound, a couple of weeks ago, they, (whoever "they" are) severely slashed, down to match sticks it seemed to me, all the Dok Koon trees, and I thought, "Thanks a lot, the one joy and splash of colour in our little compound was the blooming of the Dok Koon trees during Songkran, and this year will be no more." However, today driving by, miraculously, they were in glorious golden bloom, albeit not as prolific as usual and not at their maximum.)
So, even with all the negatives from all the naysayers, the dearth of water in most of Thailand and especially Issarn (Ubolrat Dam at very low levels of water, 20% of capacity, affecting KK city power supply leading to water tap shortages and electricity outages), and, of course, the "welcome" arrest of 20,000 (out of 40,000) suspected criminals, I guess that I, along with the rest of the sheeple, will stay in The Land of Smiles, in my case at least for the next 90 days!
In the meantime I'll just hang about on my fav bug screen and wait for whatever passes by!

My thoughts on Immigration in Khon Kaen and SongKran: Don't go to Immigration in Khon Kaen just before, during, and just after SongKran.

I went on Tues and it was indeed more crowded than usual, but thanks to the lovely police lady, I was out in 30 mins, plus a cup of cap.

By luck my annual renewal comes due in November. And if you're talking about everyone's favorite police lady, I was there on her first day in KK years back.

Yes, there are some lovely looking ladies at KK now helping with the paperwork. If you are lucky they will do everything for you. I was so mesmerised by the short skirts I even had to give a tip!

KK immigration is very good never a problem usually small queque I go 10 am always when I need to see them. Songkran brilliant in village lots of water lots of dancing and lots of fun

KK Immigration is as good as it gets.

The problem is that it is getting busier by the day.

Exactly. It's getting too popular.

With all the praise I could return to 90 day report in person instead of internet report tongue.png

BUT: I hate queues and sitting around after a 100 km drive.

So they will (hopefully) see me only once per year.

Hopefully:

with all the posts about failed 90 day report via internet one gets nervous.

My fifth is due in May.

Well done! whistling.gif

Absolutely.I just have to make sure I get it done before the King's Birthday which was more a problem when I had to go to Bangkok for the Income Affidavit and a trip to Suan Phlu.
