Lazada Singapore, why do we get this website?

Featured Replies

On every news thread that I recieve from Thai Visa there is a headline:

"Search Thailand's largest online retailer...."

Then when you click on that link, what pops up? Lazada Singapore.....

And when you browse this website you will find out that Lazada Singapore is not doing any international business. So it seems that you can not order anything from them if you are residing in Thailand.

Can anybody enlighten me as to why they do link Lazada Singapore and not Lazada Thailand??????

I am a bit confused.

Thanks for any comment.

Cheers, Carlos

No idea what the reason is for the OP.

But the Thai site still exists:

http://www.lazada.co.th/?setLang=en

Google search for "lazada" does not bring up the Thai site on the first page.

Philippines on top.

EDIT:

The ads are "Google ads" (managed by Google).

The TV server is located in Singapore. *

Why the ads are localized for the server location instead of the users location?

I don;t know.

In contrast I often get Thai (language) ads in German (language) sites.

Somewhat "funny" tongue.png

* at least content delivered from there (by Amazon Web Services) for my location in Thailand.

Just Google Lazada Thailand and you see the listed at the top

Of course I know the Thai Web site of Lazada. But why link the Singapore site to Thai Visa????

A bit strange I think...

Google is quite open about how it chooses ads for display on a user's monitor:'https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/9713?hl=en

I was once puzzled why I got Singaporean ad and when I checked I found that for some reason www.google.com.sg got to to be my browser's home page.

Reading this topic, you should not be surprised if some ad for a business in Singapore were to show up, because Singapore is in the topic title and therefore also in the URL, signalling to Google that you seem to have some interest in Singapore.

Using Chrome, you have the possibility of influencing Google's ad choices for you to some extent: https://privacy.google.com/about-ads.html. I don't know if this works also with other browsers.

We can safely assume that Lazada created that ad and submitted it to Google. Therefore, the person who wrote the ad made a mistake by putting a wrong link into it. Feel free write to Lazada to notify this error to them.
