Supermarket near Nana?

Featured Replies

Is there something like Big C near Nana? Big C is like 15 minutes drive away. Need a bunch of Walmart-type items.

no idea what constitutes a walmart-type item, but there are multiple supermarkets within a 10 minute walk from nana.

Foodland Soi 5.

That would have been my hint as a non Bangkokian until I read "walmart type".

A bit more specific would help.

Walmart sounds to me like "cheap", foodland is not!

The Big C opposite Central World, it's called Big C Rajadamri, is the closest one to Nana. And they have a whole small independent cell phone shops section on one of the upper floors in that mall, apart from the Big C store itself. Inside the Big C store area there, they also have shops for all of the main Thai mobile carriers...located directly opposite the cash registers area.

You can certainly get a SIM card there, as well as handle broader Walmart type shopping. But if all you need is a SIM card, there are hundreds of other places closer to Nana to do that, including every 7-11 shop, and the Terminal 21 mall at Asoke also has a cell phone shops area and also has outlets for each of the major Thai mobile service carriers.

If you want an actual supermarket/grocery store, there's plenty right at Nana, including a Villa Market on Suk Soi 11, a Foodland on Suk Soi 5, and a Tops Market in the basement of the Robinson's Department store at Suk Soi 19.

My own answer to my question.

I found that the big multi-story mall had what I was looking for in their grocery store (although the selection is comparable to a small town grocery in North America. It's just passed Robinson.

I got a SIM from a 7-11. I suspect the earlier ones just didn't want to sell me one, because it takes them time / effort to set it up.

Thanks all
