Slated
http://www.pattayacity.com/pattaya/trans.html Approxs. Bus = 3hrs Taxi = 2hrs Train = 3 1/2hrs For 40 baht though, as long as you don't mind getting up early. If this is true, I could see myself coming out to film Thai Fighting there a lot more often. Some details from people who have taken the train would be greatly appreciated!
sriracha john
slow, but scenic... price has gone up I see... paid 20 baht from Sriracha which was 7 baht cheaper than Pattaya at the time. All seats are 3rd class wooden bench seats, but it's a nice tour. Takes a roundabout way to BKK via Chachoengsao. Frequent stops and lots of students ride it who are always eager to practice their English as well as voicing their surprise at seeing farang ride it. I've taken it 3 or 4 times and never saw another farang on the whole train. Edited November 2, 2006 by sriracha john
londonthai
the bus goes as fast as taxi - it has only 1 stop on it's way. And it takes some 2h and not 3h as stated on the website. I would double check the prices and all other info on that site you linked to - it's outdated (still talking about fares to the old airport, Don Muang)
Vespa
I like the train , the bus makes me want to puke the way it breaks all the time and lack of fresh air. It is slower than the bus and leaves you near Hualampong Station , but worth the experience !

There's big construction goin on the motorway and Sukhumvit around Laem Chabang, you can't win on either road. Work is apparently ahead of schedule but these projects were 10 years overdue Edited November 3, 2006 by Tony Clifton
Briggsy
This train does not run on weekends and public holidays. You have been warned.
dgoz
When I first came to Thailand in 2001 I took a girl to Hua Hin from Bangers by train and insisted on paying the fare to big note myself. It was 25 baht.

Jack Jones
The best taxi I got from DM, or should I say the worst, took me an hour and a half. If I get that guy at the new airport, it's only gonna take him an hour to get down to Patts. Best thing to do is close your eyes and pray
Digger
the Pattaya train is WAY overcrowded ... frequently no seats avail ... people standing over you the whole way etc etc Are you sure??? Everytime I have got caught at various crossroads in East Pattaya when its passing, there looks to be about 3 people on it - and one of those is the driver. Might be different of course coming out of Bangkok.
