Recommended insurance for Big Bike?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Hopefully getting my KTM 690 SMC-R this week and wondering which company to use for insurance. I would like either 2nd covering third party damages and theft, or first class insurance. I checked the older threads and a guide from GT-rider, but they were a few years old.

Any recommendations and idea on prices?

Cheers.

Check with the dealer if they did not partner up with one of the insurance companies.

Honda apparantly partnered up with Cosmos, I paid 3750 bath for 3 years, excluding the compulsary insurance), but you guess it it's all in Thai, so I dunno what's really covered.

I believe there is a TV board sponsor AAinsure.net can definitely set you up. I have have all my bikes both big and small insured with them.

I'm with Falcon via the dealer since buying a Z1000 3 years ago. The 1st premium was 18k. It's now 11700 baht. 1st class from day one. No claims yet.

The SR 400 is new and I'm paying 8000 baht 1st class with AXA on Sukhumvit Pattaya.

At the time they were doing special offers on motorbikes 399cc and under.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, so far I've got replies from the following:

AAinsurance: 22-25k first class. Seems to have extensive coverage but it is quite expensive..

Falcon: only provides insurance for Kawasaki bikes.

Currently waiting for a quote from AXA - I actually used this before in Europe.
