Looking for something simple, ie check vehicle position evert 30 minutes. Dont need speeds engine data etc.

Pre Paid Sim cards in Thailand start with a short lifetime. As long as you keep topping up, you keep extending the lifetime. I believe 30 days are 300 THB (not 100% sure and may depend on the provider) and the max validity you can achieve this way is 1 year (from the date of your last top up)

Please note, When you find a device that carries a SIM make sure that it supports a 3G sim as on that thread I posted there is a device that might be of interest to you, but it only supports a 2G sim and I believe that is being phased out in Thailand.
