Anyone doing KBV visa run to Penang from Phuket these days?

Featured Replies

Guys - I have a favour to ask - I'd need a bag of coffee from a coffee shop about 6-7 mins walk from the Banana hotel.

If you're doing the visa run these days and willing to bring a 500gr bag, I'd appreciate it a lot. Of course will pre-fund and make up for the efforts.

Many thanks!

I'd be extremely cautious about carrying a "bag of coffee" for a stranger over the border, especially around countries with pretty strong anti drug laws.

Poppadom: why not send it via post?

I may have been naive or just lived in Singapore way too long where I never locked my apartment door; only when I left for holiday... Didn't think of that at all. It's not dodgy stuff :) Very nice Sumatran/Brazilian blend.

May just change the ringgit into baht and ask Ristr8to to mail over some of their Ethiopia/PNG/Brazil blend.

If you need a local alternative, I have found the dark-coffee sold at the Royal Project shops to be delicious. But the cheapest "pretty darn good" coffee is "Duang Dee Hill Tribe Coffee" - the 'strong' variety in the brown box, 100% Arabica - found at some larger "Tops" supermarkets. Both options support Thai coffee farmers.

Answering your question: postage l would be 2/3 of the coffee itself and delivery time isn't too appealing either...
