Listen, what's so strange with Seapok's 'blind love' for his Club? There's plenty of other people on this Forum with exactly the same attitude. You talk about calling a spade a spade, rix, and you're one of the very few that would about your Club and players but there are plenty here, especially on the Man.Utd.,Man. City and Liverpool sections, that have their head in the sand.

I always it thought it was up there a*se but i have been known to be wrong :D .

It pains me to agree with an 'Ammers fan but you're right. :)

Hahaha don't worry about it Uncle A, Alfredo is one of those deluded pieces of Pond Life from the Seven Sisters Road, not one of our lot... :D

Well, well, well, 1 point between us and same goal difference! Doesn't get much closer than that! Squeaky bum time indeed. Looks to be an exciting run-in. May the best team prevail...

That little 'ol abstract thing called luck will also play it's part.Something we had more our fair share of last night.

True to an extent oldgit but old lady luck has more of a say in cup competitions than the league.

Didn't see the game but apparently we really hurried and hassled them, quick to shut them down and fought for every ball, thats what I like to hear, we need to dig deep and really fight if we are gona win the league this season, would be great to take this form into the Villa game at the weekend to make the meeting with Utd and very tasty looking game, I really feel if we beat Villa then go on and beat Man Utd the title is ours to throw away!! COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!

We went about our task,Sea',in a business like fashion.Plenty of possession and closing them down when they had the ball but Portsmouth defended pretty well until we had a large slice of luck. The ball was headed on and Drogba looked to have to do until the ball hit a divot and Calamity completely missed it.Drogba then walked it into the net.

In the second half,we were playing with much more confidence. Pompey's luck conspired against them again when Rocha, their best defender took an elbow from Malouda and was stretchered off. Then Tommy Smith took a whack from Sturridge and he went off as well.Afterwards,we went to town with a stunning strike from a tight angle by Malouda being the pick of the goals.

If we go into the game against Villa with the same confidence,we should be O.K. although they are a team that cause us problems at home.

Bit of a lack lustre performance eh boys :)

No fight and no imagination whatsoever,BJ :D .It was a strange game because, even at 3-1,I was shouting at the television,"don't fall asleep"(the players, not the T.V.).Lampard will get all the plaudits but I thought Anelka was magnificent. His hold up play, pace and ball control was just too much for their centre backs.I don't think its no coincidence that the two times we've 'tanked' teams(seven against Sunderland and now again against Villa),Drogba hasn't featured.Everytime he plays,he's the focal point for our attacks but without him,I think we play with more freedom and invention.Zhirkov showed what a good full back he is.Good interplay between Malouda and him and an understanding that's beginning to develop.

Chelsea's Carlo Ancelotti wary of Wayne Rooney absence

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti says Wayne Rooney's absence may act as a spur for Manchester United in Saturday's game between the two title-chasing sides.

Rooney's ankle injury means he will miss the crunch Premier League clash at Old Trafford, which sees second-placed Chelsea take on leaders United.

"Sometimes a team can give more than 100% when a very important player is out," said Ancelotti.

"They have the experience and the players to support the loss of Rooney."

United announced on Friday that the ligament damage suffered by Rooney in the team's Champions League quarter-final first leg defeat at Bayern Munich will keep him out for "two to three weeks".

Despite relief that the injury is not more serious, the loss of the 24-year-old, who has scored 34 goals this season, remains a major blow for the reigning Premier League champions.

And Chelsea's Italian boss said his team had to use Rooney's absence to their advantage in what could provide the final momentum shift in a fascinating end-of-season title tussle.

"Everyone knows how Wayne Rooney is important for this team, he is a fantastic player," said Ancelotti. "He has had a fantastic season but his injury could be an advantage for us.

"We want to keep control of the game and to do this in Old Trafford is not easy. But we will try. Saturday is a very important game because we play a fantastic team who are top of the

league now but I have always said the title will be decided at the end of the season.

"We will have a very good chance because we are fit and our confidence has improved after wins against Portsmouth and Aston Villa. We want to do our best. The destiny after the game will be with the winners, but nothing will be decided.

"If we are able to win, it is better for us. A draw is not a bad result because there are a lot of games and everyone of them is very important.

"But it is very difficult to win at Old Trafford. It is a fantastic stadium for me also, not only for Sir Alex. I won the Champions League there in 2003 and that is the best memory for me in my career."

Ancelotti has been boosted by the return to fitness of Didier Drogba, who missed two days' training with a minor groin problem.

"Drogba was out but trained very good today [Thursday]," said Ancelotti. "We have trained very well this week. The team is fit. He is a very important player, he has scored 30 goals.

The other strikers did a great job against Villa without him, but he is very important to us."

A victory would move United four points clear of Chelsea with five games remaining, but the Londoners are in fine form after scoring 12 goals in their last two matches.

Dimitar Berbatov will deputise for Rooney, while long-term injury sufferers Owen Hargreaves, John O'Shea and Federico Macheda could return to the bench.

"I haven't liked leaving Dimitar out - and now he is in," said United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

"Having one striker has been quite successful for us away from home in Europe in particular. It suited the pattern of our game away from home.

"But it is not easy leaving out a good player like that because he can make something happen in the last third. We just have to decide the best formation."

Manchester United defender Gary Neville played down the absence of Rooney on Saturday, saying other players must shoulder more responsibility.

"Wayne will be a miss for us because he has been in such great form," said Neville. "But in the past people have always stood up to the plate and contributed.

"We have had key players out for big matches before and still won them. We have gone into finals without two or three major players and come through it.

"Chelsea have players missing. They don't have Michael Essien or Ashley Cole. All teams get injuries and suspensions on the run-in. You have to cope with them."

And Neville admitted that the result at Old Trafford would give significant momentum to the winners going into the final five games.

"I don't think there is any doubt that it is a massive match," he said. "We are aware they have hit a little bit of form.

"Aston Villa had the best defence in the league until last weekend and they have had a week to prepare, although I am not sure that will have too much of an effect.

"There is a big reward for the team that wins. Whilst I don't think the title will be decided by this one result, the team that wins will have confidence and momentum going into the last five games."

Bob Paisley once said that football is a simple game so,what do you do with a team that has put seven passed a side that were hopeful for a top four finish? You play exactly the same side in the next game because that team have the priceless comodities that all managers strive for......confidence,momentum and belief.

Before the game,I was hoping that Ancellotti would be bold and keep the same line up and not let Wilkins change his mind because he thinks Drogba walks on water. It didn't happen and it was great to see Chelsea play with invention and style instead of getting bogged down with a Drogba,Ferdinand,Vidic side show. With our run in,there was no doubt in my mind that we HAD to win this game.United were vunerable after coming off the back of a confidence sapping defeat by Bayern and the loss of their talisman,Rooney. Now was the time to get them and we did it to the letter.

Chelsea's most improved player this season by far! :)

Chelsea ace Florent Malouda feels he now has greater respect from his team-mates at Stamford Bridge.

The France international is arguably in the best form of his career with the Blues since his arrival from Lyon in 2007.

Malouda struggled to hold down a regular place in the side in his first few seasons at Chelsea, but he has now established himself as a key member of Carlo Ancelotti's side.

The 29-year-old, who has scored 13 goals this season, is now finally feeling accepted and he believes there is more to come from him.

"I feel like I'm more respected when I speak," Malouda told the Daily Mail.

"I feel I have an impact and more credibility. You have to win your place in the hearts and heads of your team-mates.

"That's what I was trying to do from my first year. But I was coming into a team that had won a lot of trophies. Now with the performances I'm putting in, I'm more respected for what I am and what I can give to the team.

"Maybe I was putting too much pressure on my shoulders. I wanted to prove myself and I wasn't satisfied. I always want to do better and I think the best is still to come. I can do much better."

Haha yeah I know a few mancs (real fans from London... :) ) so it was nice to gloat a bit, the weekend would of been even better if the worlds best player (in his eyes) Bendtner didn't nick three points from Wolves!......oh well bring on the Villa, another 7 goal route would make a glorious few weeks! :D

Cole - Talk is cheap

Joe Cole knows he must continue to do the business for Chelsea if he is to make England's World Cup squad.

The 28-year-old is among those hoping to be on the plane to South Africa this summer, but his involvement is far from guaranteed.

He has struggled to make an impression at Stamford Bridge since undergoing knee surgery in September, putting his international future on hold.

England boss Fabio Capello has raised concerns at Cole's dip in form, but will have been encouraged by the midfielder's performance in Chelsea's 2-1 victory over title rivals Manchester United on Saturday.

A starring role at Old Trafford has reignited the debate about whether or not he should be handed a recall by Capello, but the player himself insists his sole focus at present is on helping his domestic employers to the Premier League crown.

"You cannot talk your way into the England squad," said Cole. "If I am playing regularly in a team fighting to be champions I will have every chance.

"But my main focus now is Chelsea. It is very important this club gets back to the summit of English football.

"I want to be part of the team that becomes champions again." Cole accepts that he has endured a difficult time of late,

with Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti overlooking him on a regular basis.

However, he has forced his way back into the fold, as part of a three-pronged attack, and hopes he has done enough over recent weeks to earn a prolonged run in the side.

"It is not down to me to pick the team," he said. "But I enjoy playing on that right side.

"We changed the system in January and things went really well. We also changed the system in the last three games and the same thing has happened.

"I never lost belief in myself and there is no doubting what I can do. I just needed a run of games."
