do I have objective reason to complain or not

Featured Replies

Youtube does not received 10 sec without interruption.

And yet, 3BB download time CM - BKK over 100Mbps on Ookla

vs testmy.net , well see for yourself

Now tell me, does it make any sense to call 3BB and expect to get an understanding that something is wrong which IS under 3BB´s control?

Seems to be my cable, as you said. BKK streaming quality nothing to complaint about

If youtube videos do not play on such a fiber connection then you have reason to complain.

If they can not fix you should check opportunities to cancel and change ISP ASAP.

Do you have quality set on "Automatic" and what resulting quality is displayed?

youtube/Google mostly come from regional data centers (Hong Kong? Singapore) and usually run with little to no problems.

The Google video quality report:

https://www.google.com/get/videoqualityreport/

shows more than 90% OK most of the time for HD streams (1080p) for the major ISPs in my region (Khon Kaen) with AIS fibre in the lead. ToT lacking behind slightly.

On my desktop the "Automatic" setting will result in 720p as my display is only 720p.

Thats ToT fibre (30/3).

I assume that a problem like bending on your fibre cable would result in total failure.

I am afraid it's more on 3BBs infrastructure.

BUT:

what does the graphic in #2 actually show?

"US average"?

I hope you don't complain about the usage of your/with your VPN?

And that is a completely different topic.

I don't see much reason to play youtube videos via VPN (with few exceptions of blocked stuff/forbidden in Thailand).

Usually all "G-rated" biggrin.png

If you are using a VPN, try the video you want to watch on U-tube with it switched off.

Could be something as small as a speck of dust on the fiber connection somewhere in the link. A quick OTDR check would show it. 3BB can check that for you

The OP appears to be saying that he gets over 100mbs from servers in Thailand but suffers buffering on Youtube and gets only 431kbs from servers outside of Thailand.

If so there is nothing wrong with his connection but his international bandwidth is being throttled (deliberately or accidentally).

Either way the problem is with his ISP and is not local and he should contact 3BB to find out what it is.

As I already wrote: the 431 kbit/s result is not from a direct connection from 3BB to the US but obviously using a US based VPN ("Digital Ocean").

Further discussion is worthless until the OP comes back to the thread.
