Never worked here in tourism and it's good to read TV and other news sources.

But for me more importent is personal experience. I want to see it with my own eyes. And what i saw in Frankfurt and Vienna last year in october, i never saw in all my 25 years here.

Ongoing rap in broad daylight in town.

Harassment from men on single women in the city, only to name a bit. Lost of internal security in this cities!

This all reminds me of the 80's in New Jersey where women wear men cloth after dark when they go out and have men dolls as show passenger next in the car.

Phuket and Thailand are sure not perfect but save for foreign tourists.

"reminds me of the 80's in New Jersey where women wear men cloth after dark when they go out" - unlike Thailand, where many men wear women's clothes when they go out after dark. cheesy.gif

so here the ultimate absolute proof this country is unsafe :

About safety and security, the official tourism survey showed :

Austria ranked at the 5th place

Germany ranked at the 20th place

and thailand??? the country ranked at the bottom of the list cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif (so it is officially one of the most unsafe tourists destination)

1. Low season and I personally see most Thai weekend tourists and some Chinese and Japanese tourist, mostly males.

2. Many foreign younger female / male teachers (following a friend of me who are teacher) have wandered of to other places.

3. Better options in Spain and Greece this time of year.

What has this post got to do with the subject under discussion?

Not so hard to read between the lines Karen! Btw, Its just my personal observation supported by a wife working in the hospitality business.

1. The Thai tourists mostly comes as couples, often with children, the Chinese / Japanese in groups and stay in the group, and they who come alone are mostly males.

2. Many female teacher -tourists have left the island for other options.

3. More female tourists in Spain and Greece this time of the year than in Thailand.

A couple of interesting links.

Thailand 132 out of 141 for Safety and Security. Probably only just above some 3rd World countries in Africa.

When you click on the ranking there is a drop down box with further stats, including, "Business costs of crime and violence" and "Reliability of police services" and "Homicide rate / 100,000 pop."
