Made 7, ate 2 (which was 1/2 too many)

Cost about 15bht each, minced pork, chopped onion, mushrooms, bell peppers, gravy ganules, mustard powder, salt, pepper and the pasty all purpose flour, solid soy oil, and a dash of milk.

Sounds like you know what you are doing in the kitchen.

BritManToo, is the solid soy oil the King shortening I've seen in Foodland?

I use Samson Gold (sorry palm not soy), but I think they're all much the same.

Any solid fat is good for pastry, use less than the pastry recipe suggests.

Most pastry recipes suggest 33% fat, but I'd say more like 20%.

I'm using that one for pies because I want to avoid palm oil. Works fantastic

Inspired by BritManToo's pasties, I'll pick up Kings shortening in Foodland tomorrow.

Care to share your shortcrust ratios please?

Lard gives a lovely crispy crust. I do add a little butter for taste.

I have not tried the ghee for baking, but I love popping corn with it

I'm using some basic recipe from King Arthur flour website. I think it's called easy pie base or something
