Appointment for Thai Driving Test and License

Featured Replies

Hello,

I live in Bangkok and I need to get a Thai driving license.

I only have a provisional UK license so presumably I need to go through the whole Thai training and testing procedures?

I have all the necessary paperwork, I just need to book the training and tests. My Thai friends told me this is usually done online (the queue is more than 1 month in Bangkok) and the training and testing process takes up 2 entire days.

However you need a Thai ID card to book on the online system.

Do I have to go the department of land transport to book my training and tests and am I going to have to wait about 2 months or can I do it the same day I go there?

Thank you

You could chance your luck and present your provisional licence at the test center ( DLT ) they might let you convert it to a Thai licence just by doing the reaction and sight tests which would only take 1 day..in any case go early be at the door by 8am or you probably will get turned away.

If you have to do the full monty then yes it can take a long time now that they've changed the system.

Thanks johng

I may as well give it a try but I expect they are familiar enough with the full UK license now to know the difference.
