Surin and Dalian will sign “Sister City” Agreement

Surin Province prepares to welcome the Chinese ambassador and his entourage to the province's renowned “Elephant Show” and participate in a meeting on trade and investment from November 18-20.

One of the highlights of the meeting taking place on November 20 is the signing of the “Sister City” contract between Surin and the Chinese Dalian. The province is now fully prepared to welcome the group. It will also take them to the provincial One Tambon One Product (OTOP) production sites and meet entrepreneurs in the province for business negotiations.

Surin’s provincial commerce official said that this is the second meeting on trade between the province and Dalian. The first one took place in September when Surin provincial officials led some government and private agencies to strengthen bilateral relationships with Dalian in China.

The Chinese government had shown interest in purchasing Thai jasmine rice, eucalyptus plants, and rubber from Surin and asked the province to collect rubber products from other provinces in the Northeastern Region before sending them to China.

Moreover, Dalian has provided spaces in 14 local department stores in Liaoning Province for the sale of Thai OTOP goods.
