I stopped reading it when I saw posts that didn't answer the topic question.  Again, you don't need to participate, much like you don't need to have the last word, Beebs.

Maybe you should lighten up a bit.  The OP suggested some parameters, but some folks couldn't comply.  Nevertheless, they/we put out some films that we liked...which I think is more in the spirit of what this thread is about.  No need to start attacking people for being honest.  It's really not that big a deal.

Won‘t mention a film that's already been mentioned.  One film.

Silence of the Lambs.  Great cinematic atmosphere, and I love my little Jodie!

This animated trek across the musical landscape of the 20th century begins with young immigrant Zalmie (Jeffrey Lippa) arriving in New York City. He's addicted to show business, but an accident ruins his voice. He marries a stripper (Lisa Jane Persky) and their son, Benny (Richard Singer), becomes a jazz pianist. Although Benny is killed in World War II, his son, Tony (Ron Thompson), goes on to great success as a songwriter during the '60s, as does Tony's son, Pete (also Thompson), in the '80s.

I saw this when it originally released at the theaters.  Great flick.  A few years ago I finally tracked down a dvd copy for my collection.

You obviously didn't, but putting this aside - has any movie (as per the OP) affected your life?

Yes, Goodfellas was a great movie. You can't beat a true story. Movies are great to watch but not everyday. I also enjoy documentaries. I wonder if I should start a new thread on "Whats your all time favourite dicumentary?". I have many answers to that question.

My favorite movie is a comedy, Trading Places. Its humor is relatively intellectual with social and racial commentary, Eddie Murphy's second movie appearance, and Jamie Lee Curtis's breastesses.

I really liked this movie too - Eddie Murphy's first 3 were great - but I think calling it "intellectual" is a real stretch. However, it did provide social commentary in a humorous way.

Apocalypse Now.

Not only an excellent movie but one in which the casting was perfect. Can you imagine any other actor giving a similar performance to Sheen ? Should have got an Oscar for that.

Apparently he actually went a bit crazy during the making of the movie.

Funny you should say that today of all days.

And Apocalypse Now "redux" with the added scenes was IMO even better.

Martin Sheen was phenomenal in that movie.
