The head office of Chiang Rai Immigration is still in Mae Sai. They opened a new office in Mae Sai in Sept 2015. The office in Chiang Rai is a sub office with fewer staff. That is why you can only obtain a retirement extension on a Monday or Wednesday as the approving officer has to travel from Mae Sai
