Fiancee Visa

Featured Replies

This is a follow from my post about 2nd visa for my girl friend

Can anyone tell me what the time scales are for this type of visa.

My girl friend has had 1 6 month visitors visa which ran out october 2006.

Do all of these types of applications require an interview ?

If all the documents show that, on the balance of probabilities, the requirements of the rules are met then she would get the visa without an interview and within 10 working days. If she does need an interview then the wait depends upon demand. Currently the wait for a settlement interview is, I'm told, 5 to 6 weeks; but it has been known to be as long as 3 months.

Yes, you should know within a few days from making the application whether they are going to issue the visa or want to interview her first. The visa centre will contact her by phone (usually) to ask her to come in.

If it's an interview it can be the sort of delay that GU22 mentions as only a few interviews are booked for each day - the visa centre told me and the wife that they only book 9 a day for the Embassy. It is possible to put yourself on a waiting list for an earlier interview if you give an 'urgent' reason: my wife got an interview 3 days before her scheduled one in September in this way ('urgent' was that I was going back to England shortly). Otherwise you have to sit on your hands and wait, very frustrating though it can be. Good luck.
