This week was a total frustration for me. The dual sinks in my kitchen over a period had become more and more blocked and after trying to cure the problem with a plunger, which only made matters worse, I decided to investigate  and strip down the bends and traps. Sure enough, one of the traps was almost completely blocked  and one of the bends too. I cleared the mess and proceeded to reassemble the items only to find the bottle traps leaked and some of the seals had perished and needed replacing.  No problem, I thought in my innocence, I'll replace them.  I live near Mabprachan Lake and set off on my quest. My first port of call was  a builders merchant  just recently relocated  next to Shenanigans pub and restaurant.  I'd brought the assembled traps and pipework with me so that I'd get the exact match. They took one look at my piece of plumbing, smiled and said mai mi.  Isn't it great how Thais love to smile when they can't help you.  It's a sort of gotcha!!  To cut a very long story short, I drove into Pattaya, stopping at many shops that had the blue pipework on racks outside and some mega establishments in Pattaya such as Home Mart, Home Works,  Home Pro  etc etc only to be met with the same smile and a mai mi.  I must have called at about ten, so called, plumbing shops without success.  On my way home, feeling totally frustrated, I formulated plan B and bought a tube of clear silicone and a the gadget that goes with it.  It's ok and doesn't leak but I would much rather have done the job properly rather than bodge it.  Has anybody else had the same problem as me and maybe  found a shop that actually sells  plumbing equipment such as traps and bends etc etc.

Thai Watsadu and Hardware house on the sukhumvit going south out of Pattaya (just past Honda dealership on the left) are pretty reliable between the pair of them to cover most needs

There's nothing wrong with fixing existing sink traps with silicone sealant that one of it's uses.

Trying to buy a few rubber bits from small local shops is nearly always difficult, they want you to buy a whole new one. :D

We have a Global house store where we are now l can get everything l need there from little rubber washers to parts of something to renewing completely.

You are lucky, stores in and around Pattaya lack the materials that you can find elsewhere usually most of the more common items that you would expect to see on the shelves

Do it right yeah l respect that at the offset  but when repairs are required to existing stuff it's OK to a point in time.

I was skeptical at first when Global House was being built wondering why do we need another house building supermarket type thing here for,  it's the largest in Thailand by all accounts and as an retiree from the construction industry l luv to wander around the place,  it's an exercise in itself it's enormous.
