Here's a video i made of the beach area. I am not a big beach fan but have always enjoyed coming here. We live not too far away.

The video is rough but i did it as if i had someone with me rather than try and be all fluffy and nice.

Good job (but wasn't much interested after the 10 min mark when you went on to the far away Marriot) - with just one clarification.

You may have been unlucky... I've lived here for over 8 years and in that time have never seen a Chinese tour group.

Mega bus loads of Thais from time-to-time on work outings but no Mainlanders (unlike Pattaya, which is overrun as you say).  Beach is so long, it's really rare to feel crowded regardless of how many tourists (SongKran and major long weekends excluded).

Great spot - may development continue to be slow

We go once or twice a week and have seen more and more buses and my wife talks to the lady that owns the place we like to eat and she said there's more buses. I can only go on that but if you live there then you know way better than me mate.

I know the Marriott isn't for everyone but i felt it would be good to show so people can see it has bother end of the market, cheap and cheerful to higher end living. The pool is awesome though, best i have been in here.

We did Songkran there this year, great day.

I might go along today actually

Good job Fb......looking towards more

As you're headed to HK. send more when you get there.

Last night at home with the family down here. I go to Pattaya tomorrow as my visa was sent to my mates there as TBH i have no idea what my address is here 55555 and he has had many DHL parcels sent to his home with no problems. I like things to be simple when it comes to this kind of thing. I stay Pattaya till sunday then fly sunday afternoon from Bkk to HK.

Can't wait.

Its ok down there and the beaches are ok.

I would make the effort and go to Samet or Chang for a better experience.

I'm not a beach person mate. Plus those places are busy right? LMP is never too busy

I had a look at Mae Phim and liked the area. Looked at a condo there, new and small with a partial sea view. In the end settled for Mae Rampheung, condo old, cheaper, but rooms large and unobstructed sea views. Good for those who like the quiet life, no bar action though for lovers of Pattaya.

You can get some great last minute/off season deals through Agoda from time to time for the Marriot.

Not sure that life is particularly quiet near the seafront on Sundays, though, when the local boom-boom brigade show up in their droves to inflict considerable pain and suffering on everyone who has the misfortune to be within earshot of the racket emanating from the megawatt sound systems installed on their pickups.

True, weekends get busier, when the locals make their money. The sound systems can go off, guess it depends what part of the beach you are on, where we are up high rarely hear much. Also have those buses with the massive speaker systems on the front that would put a Deep Purple concert to shame, again though don't park near us. Occasionally the resort up the beach will do a karaoke, but it all quietens down quick enough. So fortunately noise isn't a problem.
