Should house owner come to immigration office?

Featured Replies

When one does a visa run to Cambodia,  the house owner has to inform immigration within 24 hours of your return that you stay at their place or they will be fined 800 baht. My question is that if I go to immigration immediately on my return from Cambodia to apply for 30 day extension, will the house owner have to come with me to report or I just pick up a form from the immigration office the day before  for them to sign and they don't have to be present?

Whether you the TM30 form needs to be done after leaving and re-entering the country depends upon the immigration office you use. Many correctly only want one if you change addresses.

Another factor is whether or not you need do something at a immigration office that wants it.

You can download the TM30 form here. http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/pdf/tm30.pdf

One more thing. So if the immigration office wants the notification within 24 hours of re-entring the country, and I turn up at the immigration office with the TM30 form filled out by the proprerty owner , signed and dated, Is that enough? or do they want the owner to be physically present as well?

I don't think even the most pedant office would expect the report within 24 hours of entering the country.  The rules state within 24 hours of arriving at the residence being reported which they would have no way of knowing when that happened.

You can submit the form completed and signed by the owner. They will likely want signed copies of the owners house book and ID card attached to it.

Signed copies eh? Ok , thank you very much. I will talk to the owner.

Good to know these things.

Chiang Mai immigration told me last week they also wanted the photocopy of the landlord's ID to have the written statement (in blue ink) :

I confirm that Mr XXXXX, Passport Number YYYYY resides at address ZZZZZ.. etc.

Proving a problem as the owner of the house is married to an American and lives in the USA.

Not have to be the owner, the law says states following.

"House owners, heads of household, landlords or managers of hotels who accommodate foreign nationals on a temporary basis who stay in the kingdom legally, must notify the local immigration authorities within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the foreign national."

If you're entering as a tourist it is unlikely that immigration will let you apply that early. Most offices seem to accept applications within the last 1 to 2 weeks.

I took a TM30 to immigration in Pattaya/Jomtien.

They told me the next time I could do it on line and gave me the instructions (in Thai).

I set up an account with immigration and report on line. I make a copy of the screen where I reported.

So far I haven't had any problems.

I would recommend chatting with the person responsible at immigration and see what they say.

Did you have to set the account at the immigration office or online?

Are you reporting as a private residence or business?

The account would have to be setup at an immigration office to get a login and password for the site.

Login page is here: https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn24online/

Edit: I did find a page for registration here but not sure it would really work. https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn24online/FilterNoLogonServlet?nodeId=24&programId=FNHOTELREG
