Paton gis charging 500 baht for residency certificate

Featured Replies

was in Thursday for an extension for the gf and saw 2 people pay 500 baht for a residency certificate to buy a motorcycle,

i got one for free last year in Phuket town and always thought they were free. has this changed or.....

BTW  best working hours anyone in the goverment  10-12, 1-3

Residence Certificate should be for free although they (Phuket Town) tries to charge you 300 Baht.

Just insist that it is free and you will get it.

Patong Beach immigration on the other hand does whatever they want, Some days it's for free and other days they try to charge you.

The working hours are reduced as the officers have to travel from Phuket town to Patong and back.

Normally they life at the same premises as the immigration office like they do in Phuket town.

Officially it's free but they nearly always ask for 500 baht these days. Couple of years back there  was some publicity about this unofficial 'fee' and an officer was 'transferred' so it stopped for a while.

I guess they are back to their old tricks hoping that they are not challenged. From what I have observed many foreigners seem happy to pay. Another trick the IO might play if challenged is the old come back tomorrow, I'm too busy right now - just to screw you up.
